Definitely true. We've all been barking up the "don't use Flash unless you need it" tree for years, but it hasn't really made a difference. Bottom line seems to be that people love the way Flash sites look. If we can achieve that differentl

I've seen, and enjoyed your work before, and had no idea you were that cheap. ;) Drop me a line with your new rates, I'd love to keep in touch for future work.

Sounds much more hands-on than that to me, almost like a record label or book publisher.

I took this as a follow-up to the Sidekick, which is one of those devices that is way more popular than I'd ever realized. I think there is a real market here, that's distinct from iPhone-like smartphones. As to whether or not Microsoft sho

Seems a little nitpicky. Arrington was one of many investors in Seesmic a long time ago, when the idea was video comments. I actually think its pretty cool that he's not pulling any punches here. And "seeing it coming" or not, the Twitter c

Seeing as we've had 2 of these on the homepage in 2 days, here's a list of the Google easter eggs: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/6201814/Google-... Maybe we can stop submitting them now? They're hardly new, and they do not

This is awesome. I'm at once excited about using this in the future, and dismayed thinking of the time I've spent manually generating PDFs because none of the HTML -> PDF options worked. I fed it my homepage, and it nailed it. I'm impre

This is true, but perhaps not surprising. Its relatively new than we're trying to sell software to "normal" people more often than fellow geeks. In my mind, AOL is the company that first crossed this divide. CompuServe was decidedly not f

Max Levchin talks about this in jl's Founders At Work . They made the web app mostly as a place to offer the Palm Pilot app for download, but it took off much to everyone's surprise. IIRC, when they finally abandoned the Palm Pilot app it

What if 10% of your visitors still use IE6? You're basically giving them the finger and send them to your competitors. Exactly. IE6 is a pain, but the extra work is worth it to me so as not to send away potential customers. Perhaps when I

Uncommon around here, but I love Outlook. I've tried Gmail, Thunderbird, and others but nothing handles the Email + Contacts + Calendar + Tasks problem as well as Outlook, IMHO. I've also used Basecamp, but I like having my To Do list integ

This is a set of UI components, not a general purpose framework like jQuery. The two libraries have almost nothing in common. Separately, I don't agree with your premise that more frameworks is a Bad Thing, nor that jQuery is/should be used

Don't raise your bids to try to get more clicks - work on your ad copy first. You can get over 1% CTR even in the 9-12 slots, so don't throw money at an ad until its working.
