Here's all I want: Allow me to input something I know , e.g. I wear size 12 Adidas. Then tell me what size I need to buy of the shoes you're selling me, be they Nike, Reebok, or something new. Shoes is one example, applies for many other t

If someone sends me a check, and I deposit it, within a day or two I know the money is mine and can't be yanked back. Not true. Any and all financial transactions are reversible, per US law. They don't make it obvious that they'll do thi

These are valid complaints, but they actually back up the author's point - You still bought the complex-looking item. That it annoys you now is irrelevant (in the author's view). He posits that even though you know you only need 2 buttons f

You'd be surprised. Its been a while since I checked, but in 2003 it cost ~$140k to build a Habitat house in Winston-Salem, NC, not including the cost of the land. "Low-income" shouldn't mean shitty. Good construction is expensive, even on

Same experience here, but consider this: WinZip will work forever without being licensed. Oracle makes you buy a new license for every core. Part of it might be the cost of the software, but pirating Oracle is also much harder than pirating

A friend lived in a co-op at Oberlin, which had only one house rule: "don't be an asshole." That one rule supplanted all the traditional ones for group living: don't leave dirty dishes, don't play obnoxiously loud music late at night, etc.

There's a ton of things Flash can do that HTML5 cannot, besides run in nearly any browser ( now ). P2P video is one example, sound recording is another. That doesn't mean Flash isn't overused. But its not useless either.

You can't win the paper resume game, so skip it. Make a portfolio, list your prices and services upfront, blog actively, and respond to gigs postings on Craigslist. You'll get work if you keep at it. Like all sales, its a numbers game.
