You read that out of context. We’re talking about apps, web apps, SPAs, and specifically situations that bring you to mix HTML and CSS into a JavaScript module. That situation most likely requires HTML (DOM) generation in the browser, which

Yeah your necessities don’t match Spotify’s. If they took this path, the web version is probably important for them.

The distinction makes sense on documents but it starts to break on apps. Javascript depends on HTML and HTML is generated by JS.

Anyone thinking this is delusional. Spotify works in a browser and there’s no non-CSS-based framework that can do that. The reason Electron is popular is because you can have a single codebase for ALL the targets.

Now there’s a name I hadn’t heard in 20 years. I thought I had something to do with Winamp at first read.

Is it TikTok or is it just because of a captive portal on the WiFi? It happened to me just yesterday: “Why does X require local network access? Ugh.” A minute later “Oh, Y is also requiring network access.” Yes, I was on a public wifi. This

It's kind of a problem when people don't like to RTFM which contains all the warnings necessary. Which reminds me I used to play with my father’s power tools on my own when I was 8-10 years old. Good times.

Who cares about porn spam (ahem) when most of the photos on Google Maps are uploaded by clueless people? Google Maps made it too easy for people to tap “ok” and take every photo they took nearby and upload them in one swoop. Selfies, dogs,

Are you saying we should reimplement macOS in Electron?

The current suggested solution is to create a new user just for that repo and create a PAT in that user. So the PAT will only have access to that repo.

Not by default, not anymore. The developer has to check a box to allow it. If it’s not allowed, macOS won’t run it.

Honestly screw mp4. They put the header at the end of the file so you can’t stream it unless its specifically made for the web. I can watch most video files “while downloading” except mp4. It’s nonsense.

Companies bundle everything into their flagship product to force everyone to use it. Direct API access means Dropbox can’t advertise either. Ask Twitter what they think about that.

This is because it’s based around VS Code, which is an Electron app, which uses Chromium. In short they never tested it outside it because they never had to. Only now it’s become available as a “web app” with a URL.

I’m surprised Facebook hasn’t yet. I kinda assume that Facebook isn’t a browser on iOS simply because that’d make it a 18+ app.

Honestly I see no drawbacks in using someone else’s free power and network if your workflow allows it. It’s amazing to run npm installs on a 2Gbps connection without so much as a % increase of your CPU. What kills it for many people though

To be fair VS Code is one of the best Electron apps and its feature and support by vendors makes up for it. Heck you can use it in a browser (CodeSpaces) or connect to a remote instance via local app. VS Code does laps around the "nati

It depends on how large. 16/18px is a good default for body copy. IFTTT is just taking the piss, I visit it at 70% or less.

As opposed to using points? That makes no sense. Every single CSS unit just maps to a fixed value in pixels[1], from em to % and cm. The only reason why they're in pt is that who wrote the stylesheet didn't know any better. 1: ht

Looking forward to the 2050 Asshole Control Act that will mandate daily colonoscopies in case someone is hiding a pendrive with CP on it. Just in case. You wouldn’t be opposed, would you? What are you a nonce? Arrest the downvoter.

Regarding that rate, I’m no expert but my guess is that it’s the result of math, not actual testing of 1+ trillion images. This sounds like calling bullshit on “You have one trillion chance to win the lottery.”
