I down voted it because ideas are a dime a dozen, and social networks had already come to be prior to Fb. I google ThinkComputer and very little substance comes up. I google the book, and very little substance comes up. I honestly don't thi

I agree, I'm an obsessive editor and usually make multiple revisions to comments I leave on various blogs, HN, forums, etc. I should probably get in the habit of writing in a doc first, but I don't really feel like putting in the extra step

Absolutely agree with you on all points. I've been saying this for a few years too, and you see it happening now with cloud computing replacing IT guys in startups. I'm actually very happy this is occurring because more than 50% of the time

I'm particularly fond of Quake Live because a) I was heavy into competitive gaming back in the day and b) I dropped everything in my life and moved to California to work for the startup whose products influenced the creation of Quake Live.

What do you have that relies on future performance? It's not a matter of what's available but rather how one treats risk. I expect experts to have more sensibility than to bet the entire financial well-being of a company, employees, and p

If you find a creative way to do a neat hedge that solves risk problems for a bunch of customers... I definitely understand where you're coming from but "creative financial instruments" sounds awfully familiar. And hedge funds closed door

Good argument and I agree with you, but by my point is more focused on recent actions in regard to the socialization of risk and privatization of reward. My comment aside, I definitely appreciate the value of honest financial gurus. To your

Once again it's worth clarifying the stats driving this article only reflect FREE apps. I really wish someone would print a more fact-driven, less-sensationalized article on the AppStore. I know I'm expecting WAYYY to much our of popular me

My dad always wanted me to be a finance geek, "he who manages the money, makes the money" as he would say. In my eyes, it's a self-serving statement and a prime example of the economy taking a left turn into the deep end. When 'managing' is

Of the new fonts they recommend, I actually really like Calibri which is included in Vista, Office 2007 and Office 2008 for Mac. I wouldn't rely on it solely as the safe assumption is only ~40% +/- 10 of your audience has it, but hopefully

Wow, a great presentation that really quantifies how insane the appstore economy is. I think we might be bucking one or two trends mentioned in the deck, but for the most part we've had our share of success and failure with various app pric

I think that's a slightly cynical view. While I can certainly appreciate and relate to the distaste for SEM/SEO gaming, their article for how to play the guitar is a very newb-friendly summary and a lot better than 90% of the sites out ther

Great article, finally some commentary on the "other" side of the AppStore's hit-driven economy. Just about every aspect in this article I can attest to having delt with. We're having modest success but we've got a long road ahead of us. Cr

No salary, everyone has stake in profits. The 'creator' retains 100% of his product's ip. If a partner is no longer interested in working on a product, he loses his profit share. It's the best approach I've found for a boutique shop to mini
