We're based out of Austin, we use python / django extensively. I would say that we're really efficient at this junction and just don't need to hire another person (yet), but we also can't afford it since we're just starting. Nevertheless, s

Pretty good list but I think the author contradicts the notion and importance of iteration. No design doc and no code base is free from changes and improvements, particularly in startups. If you can't deal with changes, you probably should

I don't have enterprise experience with Django but per your second remark, I couldn't agree more. The templating approach using extends/blocks is a breath of fresh air over PHP stuff I used in the past like Smarty. To put some numbers behin

I do think there has been a noticeable change but I don't think it's entirely bad. For example, a discussion around Haiti with a bunch of technologists on HN - as oppose to on Reddit - could manifest a new challenge and opportunity for anot

it's too bad we can't have a little roll reversal. most programmers wouldn't last a month in the advertising industry, it's far more brutal and under-paid than most development gigs unless you're founder/cto in an early-stage startup...

You act like the web was weaved on 30"s. :) ps. regarding the $100 DVI/display port adapter... you should check out MonoPrice. I get all my A/V gear from there and it's certainly comparable to overpriced AAPL and monster cables. http://www

TechCrunch likes to stir the pot and create controversy, but I do get tired of them acting like they do no wrong. Maybe it's just me but I rarely see them mocking themselves. As mentioned in the comments by another entrepreneur: When I lau
