You're telling me, stuff I put on the internet back in 1998 is still public. My family had quite the laugh one time at a reunion when some of the old stuff came to light... To your point, being transparent on Twitter and Facebook helped us

I didn't downvote you. I watch "TV" at most 2-4 hours a week (including weekends), but I do watch a fair amount of movies. Contrary to your experience, it doesn't break for me but I do agree it's not really quite ready for prime time. A maj

I've been doing this for two years, no regrets on ditching cable box. The only time I miss it is the rare occasion when friends aren't doing anything for a UT football game. It bothers me when companies dismiss streaming/on-demand due to it

i think this blog posts hinges on the assumption that most people have the work ethic and drive of an entrepreneur and that's just simply not true. if it was, half the people that come to you with 'ideas' would actually do something with th

In my mind -- who gives a damn. Either ycom is for you or it isn't. You know what's important about it? Ycom gives young people with ideas but no track record an opportunity to prove themselves. Outside of SV, it's very difficult for most y

i think strategy is more important than an idea because it's more closely associated to execution and the high-level direction of the company, so i don't think it's necessarily link bait per say. the 'idea' seeds the direction but eventuall

While not without its benefits, the stereotypical technical trader reminds me of a parasite. The fact that people focus on "taking profits off the table" through volatility disgusts me personally. Whatever happened to value-driven investmen

This is an interesting question because I spent the better half a year ignoring consulting work and focusing solely on our mobile software company. So if you include opportunity costs, you could say about $60k was "spent" over the course of

Why do people act so dismissive about what others achieve by comparing it (in a shallow manner I might add) to what other's have already done? Guess what, I've never used Kongregate and I've been addicted to games since I can remember. When

this is certainly a good thing, no doubt about it, but what I'd like to know is how many people's mindset shifts from conservative to liberal knowing that they are "saving electricity with new bulbs therefore can run the lights all day". i'

From my experience, seed money from an angel generally doesn't take that much equity from you in return for giving you the ability to confidently work on your project (ie: pay yourself a micro salary, hire a person or two full-time, etc.).

There is a balance that can be found if you want to commit to a 10-20 year business, but I'm not huge a fan of profit share plans in an early-stage company because they take away the most critical resource which is reserved for growth and/o

How is an investor/VC going to get a meaningful return? Usually via a M&A or IPO, the latter being extremely expensive and really only reserved now for a few exceptions. Investors generally come in at the start, and therefore the exit c
