I have never understood why MATLAB hasn't introduced proper broadcasting like APL and its successors. My problem with Numpy is its awkward notation/syntax when compared to Matlab/APL.

I agree, but I wrote "good engines". If one can choose between convergence with 1/N over 1/sqrt(N), the choice shouldn't be difficult especially in real-time systems.

Depends on the type of the simulation, but quite often, low discrepancy numbers (like Sobol sequences) are the better choice. Especially in finance, good engines don't or rarely use random numbers.

I remember reading Fravia's essay about evaluating sources [0] (e.g. books) about 20 years ago and it was pretty good advice for me as a teenager. In my experience, being very picky about the choice of books pays off. There is no need
