The old Bloomberg keyboards had a separate "Help" key. However, the new one merged it again with the "F1” key.

To my non-English ears it sounds like he pronounces "GNU" in "GNU Radio" like "guinea". Is there a specific reason why it is pronounced differently than Stallman's GNU?

I agree with everything you have written and I would also suggest that they improve the video. It has the same shortcomings as the rest of the website and the charts presented are totally meaningless without proper axes and axes titles.

Just a guess, but if you think about Sobol sequences, maybe the available dimensions get exhausted in this use case and then QMC doesn't perform well anymore.

You need a subscription to read and comment on the FT website and the quality of the comments is still pretty bad there in my opinion.

I am a long-term fan of The Hacker's Choice and van Hauser. I remember reading their mags, war dialing with their thc-scan (written in Pascal IIRC), downloading nasty sound files from their webserver or playing around with their CC num

Don't forget the included subscription to Bloomberg Businessweek that we religiously "read" with the feet on the 10 cm of our desk that are not covered with terminal screens.

That's why I wrote "available and usable". What Mathworks called unit-testing back then was laughable. It only got interesting in the past two-three years. Same with OOP and the features added in the past years (e.g. type hin

Equally interesting is in my opinion who should do the review. Mathworks' own consulting service is probably the best to do so, but I wonder if they would objectively work against one of their own customers.

I have worked with MATLAB code with 20,000 lines of code. Only over the past years, OOP and unit-testing has become properly available and usable. My guess is that this 170,000 lines are written in the old procedural way (also for performan

I am not sure about his example of large classes. If "energy()" is an integral part of the model, why shouldn't it be a method of it? Maybe the example is not well chosen, but it looks more like extreme minimalism to me. If t

Right now, it looks like a fun project of students who got their hands on Andersen/Piterbarg, Brigo/Mercurio and the QMC part of Glasserman. I wonder what their real goal is with this.
