- helsinki 6y agoYeah, no way I’m replacing ls with something that effectively combines ‘ls -ltrh’, ‘tree -L’, and ‘stat’. It appears the efficiency gain provided by this tool’s interface is a marginal improvement in terms of ‘characters typed’. It’s like combining a bicycle, scooter, and moped, but limiting yourself to a few hundred square feet. Confused. If this is a troll post, it worked, as I am irked.
- gmemstr 6y agoOn the other hand, I've had `ls` aliased to `exa` for a while now, and there's been no downsides that I can see. It accepts roughly the same flags and has slightly nicer (or more cluttered, depending who you ask) output.
- selfhoster11 6y agoIf the goal is to get an idea of what an unfamiliar directory contains, I can see it being useful. It's less useful if you just want to list files, but exa has that too.
- nyanpasu64 6y agoI think opensource.com is a content farm (not to be confused with the Open Source Initiative at opensource.org).
- higerordermap 6y agoWe joke that they are testing GPT-3 on that site.
- ncmncm 6y agoAgree, it is amazing that the example PNGs show dark blue text and ... dark grey? ... on black. This is good how?
