Amazon HR won't give a reference, period. They'll verify employment dates, and I bet that's handled by a third party. I haven't had a reference check in the past 3 jobs over 5 years.

Constructor championships in F1 are a big deal and keep the midfield interesting. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Formula_One_World_Co... I would argue F1 is as much about engineering as the driver. Hamilton on

But what about nostalgia? AVGN came back recently and I love it. I also didn't watch for years between. I wonder if it's potentially cyclical over one and done.

Lots of similar replies. I meant if a DVD costs $25 and a digial download comes with a long-tail(forever per the comment I relied to) then how much should it cost? More I would imagine. Sure they could advertise longer rental lengths, or cl

How much should that digital content cost then? Make a DVD once, never think about it again. To offer digital copy that loses no value over time and must be available forever seems like a bad deal from the publisher's side. To offer a

There's no digital currency or methods to transact that are more efficient than Bitcoin? Like ACH, Venmo, wire transfers, etc? Bitcoin is like CFL bulbs. An unfortunate ecological misstep while trying to improve what was available. I&#

DyslexicAthiest, for most of history dyslexics, and for that matter atheists, had a pretty rough go of things. Are you sure you want to paint with such broad strokes regarding those on the autism spectrum?

I pay for results, not "productivity." I'd much rather have an employee work on personal things first then come in refreshed vs burning out and never recharging because I'm demanding their peak "productive" hou

I'm openly a skeptic, and this is a great mental reframe for me. I knew about bitcoin since it was shared at defcon as a 30/40 minute presentation in the middle of an afternoon. I want to guess around 2010, sub $1 for sure. As I h

As a home owner I have. Corded blowers are fine. Battery trimmers are fine. There exists commercial grade electric stuff. Regulation costs money. Making a safer car was more expensive and it took tons of political legwork to legislate manda

If their customers can afford them now, they certainly can afford the $1/hr increase it would take to offset new equipment. This impacts home owners more. Also, just because it's inconvenient, doesn't mean it's not worth

Housing prices don't change (much) after you buy. Rent is at the mercy of your landlord and the market. Here in metro Milwaukee rents are up 30% since I bought a house, but my mortgage/taxes/insurance is up 1% (I pay $18/

Robinhood allowing easy, fractional purchases probably has a lot to do with it. That with the gambling nature, 10 million people playing with 1000 bucks each is a billion dollars. All Bitcoin are not worth $50k each, but a Bitcoin is. Someo

The inverse can be a trap equally. "Could it be that I don't get the market and the technology is better than I value it to be? Yes! The market is right! I am dumber!" If both can be true then you're left analyzing the f

Seeing how manual transmission cars from the mid aught's are demanding a massive premium (like 100%+ on 1,3, and 5-series), I could see in 2045 ICE cars demanding a premium. Manual ICE cars even more so. But that's assuming they

If newspaper articles of 1000 words get their headlines edited, what makes you think a publisher investing much more in a 10000 word book wouldn't edit the title? Just like clickbait headlines get a view, the same applies for getting s

That and Survivorship bias: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivorship_bias They succeed in spite of being jerks, not because they are. Musk hit big with paypal, then attempted the "impossible" with tenacity.
