And I should note that's the split going to Microsoft and the publisher , not Microsoft and the developer. The studio is almost certainly not even getting 50% of that 60%, the way most such things work.

I doubt it. Insufficient demand for the amount of work it would require.

Really? So what's a publishing deal (distribution, some marketing, storefront, updating, &c) that has a better split then that? I can guarantee you you won't find one for video games, at least. Also, Android market has the same split. S

Or you could just use this: http://hg-git.github.com Not quite the same, I know, but the best thing if you want to use a combination of hg and github.

That's quite a lot of exclamation points. And I just think it's possible that HP is finally getting a clue. Buying Palm is a good sign, because really, why else would they buy it if they're not planning on actually using WebOS?

Yes, because HP will totally think it's a good idea to continue pre-installing that shit on something they want to compete with the iPad.

You're missing the bit where Apple isn't by any means the only phone manufacturer around.

If you have an xbox, all games must still be approved by Microsoft before they can be sold.

Symbian is WebKit, Blackberry OS 6 is WebKit, Android is WebKit, WebOS is WebKit. What other non-MS smartphone platforms are there?

When has Flash ever been "native-looking" (never mind, say, behaving exactly natively) on any platform?

Only in a not-yet-shipping version.

Wouldn't this apply more if Adobe was competing with Apple? Also if Apple had a monopoly on anything?

I do think it is reasonably evil, but I'll be very surprised if, say, Apple enforces this against somebody writing software in a lisp, or all the games using Lua or Unity. But saying literally "You can't write software in Flash" makes for s

I'd note that blocks at least are open-sourced under the MIT license so there's no excuse not to include them in the runtime.
