There's no doubt that Nokia has been buoyed by Microsoft leading up to this acquisition. The lack of android devices would have been completely illogical if this wasn't the long game.

Khan describes his approach as "flipping the classroom" where kids would watch Khan's lectures at home or during lecture time at school, and then have a teacher who implemented activities and clarified any confusion with the

It's not about volume, but concentration. We can't have adversarial countries attracting or retaining any talent, or at least a paying student body to utilize that talent.

I'm still convinced that MOOCS are a scheme to keep research dollars in premier western universities.

I've been reading these comments about DDG for what feels like years now. Was it so terrible to begin with or is considerable an overstatement? It can't be improving so quickly and still pretty shitty for such a long period of tim

So who from google is going to try to assuage our concerns and tell us that it's all misdirection that they, and thus we, shouldn't fall prey to? Or is anyone from the company not compromised by a candy-coated exterior?

I guess google is everyone's scapegoat. But hey, they're free and easy. They were just begging for it.

It's going to be a herculean effort to simulate google's (and other's) services fast enough to attract loyal users. All these big tech companies' services are extremely valuable and it's hard to convince the general

Yep, it's immediately what I thought of when we saw the Google Glass Field trip app released earlier this week. Google could offer an invaluable service to businesses and consumers alike if they could orchestrate the relationship betwe

It's more than that. Google is interested in the movement of goods and services and how they can make those transactions more efficient. Google can umbrella commerce in general and just take a small google tax. It's like amazon&#x

A big piece of google's continued growth is going to be in mobile commerce. Take offers, maps, search and self-driving cars and put them into an amalgamated new product. Google's future is an ecological approach.

It isn't a huge barrier if the courses are as legitimate as actual university courses. As for the pricing question, the price of a can of coca-cola isn't the same in the U.S. as it is in Sudan. Once these MOOCS establish a brand,

They're probably trying to find as many ways as possible to embed themselves into relevant industries before they aggressively monetize. I bet the end goal (for all these MOOCS) is to become the de facto source for web based courses of

Their only current source of revenue is through a signature track tier where you get a certificate that is verifiable with your identity. I doubt it will stay that way indefinitely, but for now the course material is provided without charge

The quality and volume is truly incredible. There are at least 4 classes that I'm interested in at any given time, and that's on coursera alone (not including udacity, edx, etc.). I wonder how much longer these services are going

I don't use Yahoo, but I do like that the site is useful for casual information junkies. There's a very pleasant inundation of news in various media that you don't get from sources like google news or newspaper sites.

Facebook isn't giving me useful implementations of my data. It's holding relationships hostage. It being the de facto source for internet services for large populations is only going to make things worse.

I think its relevance to google is that a position at google is perceived to be a peak in achievement and fulfillment, which the author obviously didn't find.
