Is there a market for a focused, specialized search engine, for example, relatively speaking -- google circa 2010 with all the specialized search operators etc... focused on technical content? What does the business model look like? Ads (it

The risk of a housing bubble bursting should be a function of the number of recent owners who can’t afford a rate hike and are forced to sell in a hurry. Is this metric tracked somewhere?

Not sure if it will play out the same way but I remember the arrival of the iPhone. Lots of people defended Nokia and RIM (Blackberry) and a few years later they were completely decimated. I’d be curious why or why not it would play out th

I can imagine a notebook like environment where the results of each step are put into a temp table to use in subsequent steps. Why do you think people are not using it enough? Because they don’t know SQL? Or because of tooling?

Years ago I wanted to use video game worlds to make TV shows… where you could script the characters and focus on the dialog instead of animating each frame.

Could you give an example of how these are used? Do you mean things like "IF there's been [4] login attempts in the past [10] mins THEN deny this login attempt"?

I think constraint solvers are underutilized. Probsbly because people are not aware of them or don’t think in terms of solving problmes based on specifying constraints.

I'd like to point out that success in a role depends on more factors than the technical interview. I have found that investing the time to correctly onboard new team members makes a huge difference. Correctly onboard an average/g

Note that to save memory, instead of using every character in the word, you may want to cap the depth of your trie to the first N chars. The words with shared prefixes are kept in an array at the leafs. During lookups, you’d scan the leaf

This might work better if GPT3 is used to rewrite each statement into an algebraic equation. And then a equation solver is used to solve the system.

In theory the graphql server could be smart enough to assemble a single SQL select to satisfy the query. Does anyone know of an implementation that does this?

Unfortunately, easy to hit that with say GraphQL where each client request can resolve to dozens of db selects vs a single hand written/tuned SQL select.

I completely agree with this. We need all this to run on renewables. Solar is a good fit because where it’s hot and people need AC there is usually plenty of sunshine as well. I should have clarified that hot -> AC -> more hot dynami

I wonder what’s the optimal max speed considering the increasing cost of building it vs the utility of time saved. It seems higher speeds have higher utility for longer distances as the travel time dominates over boarding/disembarkati

I’ve been wondering if climate change could disturb the environment enough to deplete/reduce the oxygen in the atmosphere. For example, if large enough tracts of forests/grasslands turn into deserts?

I’m a fan of tailwind. But I do wonder if inlining classes into each and every element is as efficient as CSS rules that apply to those same elements. Imagine you have a table with a few hundred cells. You can have something like: .my_tabl

While at WhatsApp, I learnt the importance of jitter the hard way. One day one of our backend services became temporarily unavailable and caused millions (probably in 10s of millions at this point) of connected web clients to go into jitter

I looked into this space. The major problem with the evaporative approach is that takes way too much energy. Reverse osmosis is ~50x more efficient. The best way to get fresh water is to use solar panels to generate electricity and use it

The cable could be replaced with a rotary switch with stops for each recipient. I’d also add a picture of each grandchild in addition to the name. But overall, this is an awesome idea :-)
