Fun and short read, thanks for sharing. I'm not going to be manufacturing hardware any time soon, but I always love random insights into another field. I wonder what an apple car would look like.

Yeah. Did some digging, apparently the user stated that "n and c are no comment" [1]. From context its not clear whether they don't want to comment, or if the characters literally stand for "no comment". But to me i

To be fair cexes are like a bridge between defi and regular finance and need tech and knowledge in both areas. Ask how larga a headcount dexes like uniswap need, and your argument makes more sense.

Let me make sure I get this right: if you have two chains, one is mined by 49% hash power, the other is mined by 51% hash power, you think the 51% one won't be the longer one?

They are not hard-forking, it will be compatible with the original chain and original rules. There will be two competing forks, one censored, one not censored, and the censored one is longer (because 51%). Consensus rules say longer chain i

Not correct, they can choose to not accept any blocks containing banned transactions, and still have the longest chain (statistically speaking). That's why the 51% number is significant.

Very interesting question. I think that's a nuanced distinction that very much comes down to exactly how the other person suggests getting off facebook. If I get the impression that the commenter cares about the well-being of somebody

A quick note about zipper sides: customs are quite varied on this in different countries. From shipping cost I assume you live far away from canada, maybe it's just that your country has it the other way around? You can't really f

If I understand correctly these numbers are a result of users viewing posts uniformly random? While the post is a nice overview of options, I doubt the numbers generalize to the much more realistic scenario of a power-law distribution of vi

I love cinnamon, but lately it has fallen behind, sadly. I kept using it for a long time, but KDE was just so much better in a few important ways (fractional scaling, multi monitor performance, battery life for some reason) that I had to sw

I tend to not believe unbelievable results in machine learning. It's too easy to unintenionally cause some kind of information leakage. I haven't read the paper in detail though, so their experimentation setup could be foolproof,

You are not missing anything. It's has a death spiral in it by design. If luna price goes down, then people lose trust, then people start selling ust, which leads to burning ust and minting more luna, which inflates luna supply, which

I think the part "if you want the WebView UI component to be consistent across platforms (you want this)" is a reference as to why a built in webview won't be good enough.

Years back I had the idea of a patreon-like site, where people could support a person/project by keeping a tab open, mining. Nothing like it materialized afaik, guess none of the usual pow algos really shine in browser tabs.
