I know this isn't the craziest startup shutdown story, but wow. At $10MM of revenue they can afford to keep a staff of 50 at a fully loaded cost per employee of $200,000. Yet, according to Linkedin they peaked at nearly 200 employees.

I love the idea but can't deal with how much they wiggle. They all seem to only have 2 legs, which results in them being very wobbly, particularly at standing height. Interested to hear if anyone knows of any actually stable sit-stand

Here's an archive link: https://archive.is/ArnbD Pretty much spot on, it has a couple funny quotes like the Bluey episode about a cricket match beating the ratings of the actual cricket match, and how the ABC (Australi

Second person pronouns are so fascinating! Not only is "you" the formal, polite plural form, but calling someone "thou" was also seen as so informal as to be rude (in verb form, to "thou" someone). This has a m

What.cd was certainly better than oink in terms of the library (largely because it was started by seeders who already had the entire oink library) but was definitely missing the charm.

I don't get the outrage here. Basically, this Web design company used a proprietary font to make a website for a client, that they then included as a self-hosted font file for the website that they deployed. They only had access to thi

I have to say it's massively unlikely that someone who read LOTR and disliked it would enjoy the Silmarillion.

You would need a dual boiler for this. IMO the best value dual boiler on the market is the Breville dual boiler. Alternatively there are standalone milk frothing devices that might suit your needs while allowing you to buy a cheaper espress

Made it to 3 fingers and then couldn't advance as my phone interpreted a 3 finger swipe as a screenshot. I'm counting it as a win since I learned a new feature of my phone!

FYI, it's "voilà", not "viola." A viola is a string instrument similar to a violin: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viola "Voilà" is a contraction of the phrase " vois là " me

https://makofintech.com/ We do a lot of thinking about the place of low-code or no-code in the industry. We're intentionally low-code, for example, because we think the accessibility gained by a no-code (graphical prog

Programming tools have a continuum between power and simplicity (or, lines of code, or developer efficiency). You wouldn't (couldn't) write a device driver in Python, but you also wouldn't want to develop a dynamic website in

Didn't mean to put words in your mouth - I actually found your wording very hard to parse, which is why I said I wasn't sure what you meant. I agree that the Texas solution is likely a local maximum. Sounds like we both agree it&#

I'm not sure what you mean here. Looking carefully at what is, in most of the world, this wouldn't have happened in the first place. The Texas solution doesn't sound much better than the SF situation to me.

I downvoted you, not because I disagree with your point (although I do disagree with it), but because of your peremptory and dismissive usage of "STOP" and "level one challenge." This issue is not so straightforward that

The kind of extreme sports you list having participated in have absolutely nothing in common with low speed urban bicycle commuting. It certainly makes sense to wear a helmet while doing mountain biking, BMX tricks or road racing.
