I can recommend the Aegis app for Android. Works great and has encrypted backups.

I have mixed feelings. "Educating the masses" is important, at least to a certain baseline, otherwise we get failing democracies due to manipulation of uneducated voters. But it's important to still have a separate track for

Aren't these torrent clients bad for the swarm? Requesting chunks in sequence and probably not sticking around to seed. Do they at least seed while watching?

For some more transparency, we pay ~$9k/year per image (all versions/variants) for some basic images (think python, golang etc). The ones with cuda drivers are more expensive but I don't have the exact prices on hand.

I agree, but I'm not spending my time arguing with PCI auditors. Also it's safer from supply chain attacks. Malware inserted via compromised docker hub tokens is a growing threat.

Alpine helps but it's not perfect. Plenty of outdated packages with known CVEs there for long time. Often they are not exploitable but it's easier to pay chainguard to have a constant zero on our vuln scanner than to deal with dis

They do keep some of them more up to date, for example the bitnami python image had system packages patched faster than the official one. But if you are willing to pay then chainguard is a better solution.

That's not Windows specific. It just forces power off on a firmware level, possibly even lower (the power management IC could have "hold to turn off" built in).

Probably makes it easier if they brick it and lose remote access and have to ask the person running it to enter some commands to fix it. It's not like a proxy server is anything secret worth protecting.

You don't need to store it in the dirt. You use the dirt as insulation, and store in something like molten salt or whatever which can be pumped up to surface and has good thermal conductivity to then extract the heat. At least that

This is not how dual licensing works. If you offer two licenses I get to pick. And I pick MIT which allows me to use it commercially. If you disagree, then it's not MIT but some custom license, so don't label it as such.

Computer is overselling it a bit. It's a fixed logic latch+shifter. Basically each LED takes first few bytes for itself and shifts out the rest down the chain. Still awesome this is small and cheap enough to put into individual lights

No it won't but if it did would take just few hours for china to shoot a bunch of them down and with how tightly packed their orbits are the debree would take care of the rest.

It's not convoluted. Env vars are fine for places where you need the value. If your application talks to service X with API key then sure, give it that via env var (mounted from some secret manager, so it's only mounted in product

Still needs an antenna tuned to the RFID frequency which will be much larger than the chip. It's cool engineering but doesn't mean you can have a working sub-mm tag.

Wait how would they observe this? If not owner of the domain, and likely not owner of the client (random residential proxy)? Unless this is HTTP+MITM.

My take on the normalization is that it happens in the wrong place - you should not do it adhoc. If your input from user is a string, define a newtype like UserName and do all validation and normalization once to convert it. All subsequent
