Jon Stewart also famously went on Crossfire back in 2004 and delivered a viral takedown to Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala[0]. It doesn’t seem like he had much of a long term impact there either. [0]: https://youtu.be/aFQFB5Y

While peer review isn’t perfect - it’s helpful. Arxiv isn’t peer reviewed. Most things in ACM journals and conferences are. That process costs money because it takes people and time to do it well. Journal subscriptions are often not enough

Some of the earliest LTE devices did data over LTE and voice over 3G. Notably this applies to the iPhone 5s does not support voice over LTE - which you commonly see on Android devices as VoLTE. There’s a variety of other devices in the the

You should try Fidelity, it’s even worse. To authenticate over their phone you punch in the digits that correspond to the characters of your password. Special characters all get mapped to zero. This is TONS of fun when you use a password ma

Mozilla is very active on privacy advocacy and highlights Firefox’s privacy as a feature[0]. This makes some sense because the features of Firefox (cookie blocking, containers, first class ad blocking) all help preserve your privacy better

It’s nice to see articles that help confirm some of my anecdotes. I live in Connecticut, and in the last year I’ve seen both a bear and a moose in my yard. And, it’s not like I live somewhere crazy rural - I live on a 0.3 acre lot near UCON

That was incredibly touching - I saw a lot of myself in there. I’m a little older, and maybe didn’t get into my dream school first time around, but I still remember hand coding HTML and FTPing it up to GeoCities in search of other people li

At this point, I feel like the “Apple TV remote is hard to use” is an outdated meme. The old remote with the touch surface at the top took some getting used to and is the source of most complaints. But that hasn’t been the standard remote f

I’m not quite sure if that’s accurate. The distinction is that Disney isn’t allowing the movies to have for-profit showings. The movies are still widely available on streaming services or to purchase through iTunes. Alien was brought up as

This is a good observation that I wish that more people understood around schooling and funding for the public good. I live in a small town with about 1000 children total in grades Pre-K through 12. Schools are funded through local property

There’s an important note. Verizon (and other American carriers) have no plans on shutting down 4G LTE. Even with c-band and DSS there are still large swaths of the country without any sort of 5G. In addition, devices a as recent as the iPh

I worked on Chef Watson and was part of the team at SXSW. One of the most amusing parts was how much it loved bacon. This was because bacon could be sweet, savory, salty, and fatty - it all depended on how you cooked it. A big part of the w

A lot of it is just knowing how to read the ice and making sure it’s secure. About 10 days ago, the lake I live on was still open. A week ago, which had perfect ice, it was a little over 3” thick - which is borderline. People were out, but
