Agreed. Subversion branching is a direct solution for both problems he mentioned in the article.

I'm not sure the author of this article understands subversion branching [1]. As long as you are not making a commit to the master trunk, you will not be interfering with other developers on your team. The author dismisses SVN branch

You are correct: MATE is the GNOME 2 fork that uses GTK2. Cinnamon is a modified version of GNOME3 that uses GTK3 and provides extensions to the GNOME3 desktop so that the default desktop looks and feels like a default GNOME2 desktop. Lin

I'd highly recommend both of these games. I'm really hoping that the lack of Mac/Linux support in Quake Live will bring more players to the Xonotic and Warsow community. If you are into quake-like FPS, do yourself a favor a

The QuakeLive team currently only has a single developer and it seems that they would have nowhere near the developer bandwidth to do a WebGL port (as great as a WebGL QuakeLive would be!)

As a decade long Quake Live player and subscriber, I am really disappointed by this move. The team was forced to make this move because of the lack of native browser plugin support in future Chrome versions. It seems that the QL team only

How does KDE depend on Ubuntu? It's not like KDE will cease to exist if KDE is not included in Ubuntu. And besides, Canonical is more than welcome manage their patches for KWin (or fork KWin) if they really want it to be included in

In my experience, 'haveged' [1] has worked out really well for generating entropy on headless servers. It could be scripted into a provider's base distribution to include the haveged binary and run haveged before generating
