Unfortunately, most of the more politically organised or influential people like things that make property work as an investment. This means they fire up and defeat measures against it. I can't see a way out in Australia.

I think with big beer, you get consistency of product and usually pricing. That's great for some people who don't want to be fussing with beer. I used to care about tasting every obscure beer from a location, but over time I'

Power bricks are pretty cheap and easy to carry. And many flights have USB charging plugs. I reckon they'll have more or larger power bricks as an up-sell. And I agree - laptop on a plane wrecks necks.

They only just announced it and had many details well hidden prior to launch. I think over the next few months, they’ll definitely have Apple staff using it around a controlled office and then later from home. At this point, I doubt they’d

My wife and I usually watch different shows/movies so I could see myself using a headset like this for a lot of content consumption. Rest of the use cases I agree with. On the NBA games, I reckon it would be a matter of deciding whethe

Why wouldn't you use this in place of working on your computer, and then leave it behind when you go outdoors? Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Is that much worse than becoming enraged by 24 news cycles on daytime TV? I feel like reliving family memories and virtual travel/experiences could be quite positive for older people.

They could remove the front-facing display and the camera/ability to shoot 3D content. Both strike me as non-essential for a base device geared around content consumption and basic work. The front shield then becomes a plain piece, and

Besides cheaper hardware, what could they remove for a non-Pro version? Maybe make it always tethered, and the power brick is +$150. Cutting the display quality kills their pitch. Reducing the headband hits viability also. Maybe they remove

I think you're right. There's a few opinions potentially clouded by "I'm jealous because I want this but can't afford it." If they were making a Quest 2 replacement, fine, talk about $500 pricepoints. If they c

Have a multi-screen workspace at the office, in the study, on the couch, outside, in a hotel, on the plane. Without having to cart a laptop and two extra displays everywhere. I'd like to see a tag on every Vision Pro commenter noting w

There would be private units within Apple testing this headset for hours and days. And now that it's announced, this testing will be broadened to the more public areas of their facilities. They're gunning directly for work/pr

I think the pitch is in-home and in-office (eventually this will be the same thing for more people). People might use it on a flight or commute but I don’t see the key pitch being anything like walking the street getting AR map directions e

"A term which no one else uses." Yet. They've set it rolling and so far own a perspective separate to AR/VR. Leaves the competition brawling over headsets for a still-to-be-defined VR concept while they pitch customers

Most people talking favourably about the Quest on HN talk about fitness games. It's easier to justify a hardware purchase if it will have a purpose, as you can compare the cost against a gym membership or a treadmill or a personal trai

You don't have to think for long to see where they will take this, and how strong it will be in corporate environments. Especially a corporate world currently jostling between in-office and work-from-home.

First thrust will be solo content consumption and mild work (emails and text docs). And yes, a fair number of early users will sit on the couch or be in bed watching a movie/show, experiencing an immersive environment or reading a book

Aren't they talking about the "ease" of competing with a lower-end, non-vertically-integrated device? Same tactic won't work against Apple because they make the key chips, make the hardware, the software, etc. They can h

I think the reason Apple pitched a device for solo use is that at the price point they needed, you can't bank on your friends having one, or multiple headsets in the house, or everyone at the office. I bet they figured the display qual

When our app has been featured in WWDC moments, it's at the discretion of Apple. I don't believe that it's paid, but more Apple choosing what they think are quality examples of apps to motivate developers.
