Mach 2 (and thus XNU) was built on BSD 4, which was derived directly from Bell Labs UNIX V7. It has been “natively UNIX” as long as the other ancient V7 and SysV derivatives, like AIX and SunOS. Maybe what you really mean is you don’t like

My reading is: because it says theres so few of the tablets from this time period, they assumed the other museum couldn't possibly have an 'undiscovered' one?

I was thinking the exact same thing. Mozilla also had a WYSIWYG webpage editor for some reason. Chatzilla was genuinely awful though.

It's memory for sure. My art program easily gets to 100GB+ usage (on a 64GB MBP) and whenever I do a large scale the rest of the system goes to shit, especially audio.

Running ZK was pretty easy with Exhibitor (not that I’d recommend it over etcd) but it’s defunct now. Otherwise manually managing it is crufty and ancient feeling. The API for “dynamic reconfiguration” is like something I’d expect from Orac

I'm not sure if there is an actual transfer available. I just gradually accreted passwords into Keychain by having LastPass on normally, and then accepting the prompt when Safari asked me to save the password. iCloud passwords works wi

Yes I started using Keychain exclusively after the LastPass app got progressively shittier. No issues so far, and really no differences. Even tells you when something gets compromised.

I don’t agree at all. Linux was fairly ubiquitous even in the late 90s. For example the entire line of Cobalt server appliances were Linux based, and they were a favorite in colos and shared hosting.

Oracle was one of my favorite places to work ever, I barely did anything at all. Extremely low expectations. Got a raise every year and eventually a promotion to Staff. Got to go on free trips to different datacenters. Free soda, catered me

A bunch of my coworkers from a previous company went to a startup that did a SPAC IPO in October. Went from $12 to $1 since then. Seems like these all went down at literally the worst time possible lol

The processor in a G5 PowerMac came on a card that had the VRMs, capacitors, and a bunch of other stuff on it. It was basically like a tiny motherboard that attached to your motherboard.

The remote aspect makes a lot of these engagements more pathetic, not that I really enjoyed them in person. We had Zoom 'happy hours' where people drank alcohol and rambled about inane stuff. It was certainly an hour, but happy? N

Prodigy and CompuServe were such weird and unique walled gardens early on. Totally different visions of “the internet” and sadly all that stuff is lost forever. Later CompuServe became a reskinned AOL (seriously) and Prodigy devolved into a
