Technically true, but I think this is VASTLY understating what has become possible with your average PC over the past 30 years. Today I can get quick, effortless renders from Blender with a zillion available assets on the internet on my lap

Here is my perspective on these kinds of images. This kind of 'picture' usually comes from speed-painters who incorporate techniques like photobashing. As in integrating 3D models and RL photos into their composition, or just pain

It really depends on which company offers the best support in your country in this case, yeah? People can recommend whatever, but it’s most likely going to be someone living in the US.

Valaciclovir is magic. I use the 1G tablet whenever I feel the tingles. Between that, routine vitamins, and habitual chapstick use I haven’t had a bad outbreak for almost a decade. Before that I’d get one like every other month it seemed.

I would say yes, only because I’m tired of how dealing with vendor software has been going lately. For example I’ve noticed Starburst and Confluent in particular only add useful scaling features to their paid product, rather than in the cor

Surely you mean RISC-V then. There’s nothing free (like freedom) about x86 or ARM.

I have 2 kids and I wouldn't mind more, but where do you put them? Our house has 3 rooms. If we have bunk beds they're probably going to be annoyed as teenagers. Maybe I'm thinking about this too hard lol

After having kids, my opinion is they come out of the womb with baked-in personalities. Not that we don't change as we age obviously, but it's definitely not a blank slate by a mile.

It’s an early ERP system. People undersell or oversell it depending on their ideological bias but that’s what it’s most comparable to imo. It’s not particularly exciting but it was a practical idea.

My current company is a retail chain in Texas. All devs get an MBP. Not SV, not tech.

The future, hilarious. The stuff on unixporn is exactly what I was into when I was 15 years old. I had the sickest fluxbox setup, transparent terminal, all kinds of neat widgets, completely customized Irssi themes. It owned. That was also 2

Some of the apps they replaced with 'iPad versions' were abysmal to begin with, so it's more of a lateral move.

Why’s work had a lot of charm and heart. It was weird and funny and avant-garde but in a pretty accessible and (mostly) unpretentious way. It didn’t teach me a whole lot about Ruby but I probably read it a dozen times or so lol

Stash and Bitbucket “cloud” were completely different codebases. It was kind of a unique case. The HipChat “server” was just a weird fork of the “cloud” version. JIRA and Confluent cloud started off as containerized versions of their on-pre

Yeah this happened at Atlassian, beat for beat. Textbook incompetence. HipChat was a declining dumpster fire with endless outages, so they thought they’d make a new chat platform from scratch (Stride) So all the development effort was on St

The hard part about learning new languages for me is purging all the old information I have. For example, Perl sigils messed me up for a long time because other languages don't prefix variables and stuff with a symbol. It felt so wrong

The 'Reopen windows' feature is a complete crapshoot on what the app actually does when it comes back up, so I never use it. It has always been half baked on OSX, and seems to also add weird complexity. Honestly what is the benefi

It's called SIP, or rootless, but it can be turned off by the user unlike iOS. So you don't need to 'root' a Mac. An admin user in MacOS is always in sudoers though.
