After reading the article, I feel like the HN title should rather be « Authors’ status » instead of « Authors’ names ». I expected the study to be about gender inequalities but it’s actually about author prestige (is the author famous or no

I guess they are not able to buy the tooling (think ASML EUV) to make advanced node either. So, they’d also need to throw a shitload of time and money at this.

whoah, AMD has same marketcap as Intel ? They were worth 2B 4 years ago, now 180B... Feels like they're massively overvalued rather than Intel being undervalued

Lawn mowing is among the top most useless energy wasting human activities. It's noisy (of course nobody syncs with neighbours to mow so you can be sure to hear mowing noise every day), polluting, and so fucking useless.

And how do you convert back bitcoin into electricity ? How do you turn money into energy ? Can the FED print some money to fill back the empty oil fields ?

Not answering to the question, just correcting your last phrase: Uniswap has wrapped monero (WXMR) which is not quite the same as Monero, and with a ridiculous liquidity of ~200k$ currently ( https://geckoterminal.com/eth

It would be amazing if they could also sell repairable household electrical goods like washing machine, dishwasher, etc - in the future. These are plagued by planed obsolescence. I would totally pay for repairable ones even with a premium.

how about adding a second character next ? Then you would count to 100,000,000. Just like we do with arabic numbers actually, putting them next to each others. With a single of our digits you can only count to 10 !

I'm pretty sure this Hybrid PoW doesn't work. All these arbitrary rules can be circumvented by an industrial miner by generating the right addresses at the right moment with right amounts of coin. It just needs some statistics.

On this point, light wallets are just as protected as full node. Light wallets are able to validate blocks just from their header, thanks to the structure of a block. Indeed, all transactions in a block are commited in a merkle root hash t

Light wallets validates blocks by checking PoW in their headers. In Bitcoin, a header is 80 byte long, that's about 40MB as of today (~500k blocks since inception). Saving 39.9 MB on light wallets isn't worth starting a new blockc

I just lost 10 minutes reading your whitepaper, and your claims are quite bait-clicky. Yes, your blockchain will be "instant sync", but only for light clients. Just like with any other blockchain, you still need full nodes that st

That's not true at all. The worst the state can do is to deny votes to be written in the blockchain by mining empty blocks. But no matter how much computing power it has, the state can't write false votes, thanks to public key cry
