I was always told we pay high prices to support research, which has been proven to be BS time and time again. The drug companies spend way more on marketing. The capitalist market driven research only creates expensive drugs that treat weal

bingo, the kick backs work in a similar feedback loop. My insurance only covers long term rx from CVS. If I go somewhere else, they stop covering it after about 3 fills. CVS is more expensive then my warehouse club price.

You would forfeit anything in excess of the small claims limit, probably around $5k. Also costs around $100 to file and you're looking at at a day or two of time away from work.

Interesting, I was led to believe this kind of research could only happen when we let drug companies gouge us for obscene profits.

Well, the sandbox is a lie. Did you RTFA? Plus, you can have rpms that provide their own packages, but it's rare and will still be upgraded if it's in the repos.

Well, you're wrong, 1 is more secure then 2. That's the whole point of the article. OS packages and precompiled binaries don't install their own version (often older and unpatched) of core binaries they are dependant on. By a

Wow, just kind of threw the kitchen sink in there didn't you. Many if not most of those go to middle class and higher families. Pretty thanks for providing the details so we can all see how disingenuous this argument is.

A little dated, but here is a good citation. https://inequality.org/research/america-failing-schools/ Where is yours for that $90k BS. Sounds like a serious argument for just giving poor people cash.

Physical violence is down, it's moved to emotional and psychological attacks, which can be just as bad or worse. This is just judging from my own experience, and my kids have a very different set of circumstances then I did.

Cherry picking data can certainly show that private and home schooled kids do better on tests. It's easy to self select and paint a great picture. US Public schools blow everyone else out of the water if you shave off the bottom 10%. T

I'm not talking about cleanliness. I'm talking about the fact that most items fall apart and new items are so cheap that used items are getting less and less desirable. There's been articles on here about the way the used clo

Assets that don't increase in value are "losing money", per economic theory. Homes are a low interest money sink. You can buy a home, hold it and get a decent return on your money. You can also mortgage the home at low intere

Hmmm. I wonder if tax policy has anything to do with this, or the way wealthy people can shelter money in a residence. I wonder if lack of savings interest is a big driver... In short, your analysis is grade school level.

I always tell people to buy a used business class (latitude, probook, etc). Electronics that last 2 or 3 years and are in a repairable form factor will last way longer then the cheap consumer stuff. You can get parts for them for close to a
