I'm not very good a social cues and I miss alot, but I've slowly learned that this is often revealing some inherent biases. The managers are ok with paying other white guys, but they are surprised when the meet me in person. I ha

I too never ask for a raise and rarely get one. Out of the last 6 companies I worked for, one gave regular raises of 3% and one seemed to alternate between 1% raises and 1% bonuses. I was around 50K and 85K respectively. As you can see, I&

Growing up, my dad had a shirt with acid holes. My mother said he blew up a battery while working on it. My dad was a DYI guy, but didn't regularly work around anything caustic. This would have been early 1980's.

I think vanilla calibre supports this web version now, at least in linux. I just install calibre on my vps and run it headless. I posted directions up thread.

It also provides a great web viewer, organizes by author or series, has an (mostly good enough" search functionality, and a decent "random" suggestion option. It will go out and find the appropriate metadata and cover for alm

Get yourself a small vm and you can run calibre headless in the cloud. I only open it locally to add books and fix the metadata. Then I rsync it to my vps, kill my calibre PID, and restart calibre. I use this command: /usr/b

I just convert all my pdf's to epub. It's a pain, but worthwhile long term. Calibre does a good job, but you need to know some regex to clean up the view and avoid stuff like repetitive title and page number.

The content view is pretty usable for reading, especially if you're on a locked down device that can't install a an e-reader app.

Reading is obviously an add-on. Are you using the content server view? Locally, on linux it just calls whatever program I specify to read. I'm partial to fbreader, on linux and android. I do use the web content viewer some, but mostly

I've never had any real issues with the UI. I run it locally, and sync it to a cloudserver where I run it headless. Both the local and web ui are fine IMHO. They allow me to get things done and the work.

My logs still show repeated attempts by the same IP. Lots of 1 and 2 tries, but multiple IP's with hundreds or dozens. Keep forgetting to enable fail2ban.

You're listing one possibly problem when this addresses dozens of issues. Removing corporate money from law making will make it was easier to address these issues in the future, with sensible legislation.

By all means, extrapolate your position. The press is corporate, but every story I've ever seen has a byline. That means the actual speech is from a person.

I'm not saying we mess with these people, I'm saying we charge market rate, or closer to it, for electricity. Maybe setup a program they can apply for to get a subsidy. That will make the process much clearer and everyone can trac

Rural people love their subsidies. We should encourage people to live in denser areas, not all cities, but towns. How many rural people do you think are involve in food production? It's only around 10%.

corporations != people The press does it's fair share, but you're wrong. Don't be afraid of change. If something isn't working; we should fix it.

If your passing through a NAT, you can whitelist your own IP. something like: fail2ban-client set addignoreip x.x.x.x or fail2ban-client set addignoreregex hostname.com

Don't forget, at the current rate we're all subsidizing the rural power users. They should absolutely pay more if it costs more.

Sounds like the 200k houses need to come down in price. This is another reason people are burned on "starter homes". You can't get your money out if you need to move. Cheap houses are in undesirable areas and you can't

50 years ago it was cooler and everyone grew up without AC, they were used to it. That's not the case today. It's hotter and people grow up with AC and are not accustomed to living without it. The bar has moved.
