No. The one thing we want to avoid is making the Earth into an unlivable hellscape for those who remain alive.

We already have enough wealth in the world to share. There's no need to continue oppressing the global south in order to fuel growth that's going to kill us. I may have agreed with you before capitalism pissed away our future. B

No, I mean growth in consumption. People borrowed from the future by consuming too much. It was, and is unsustainable. Reduction in population is the way to achieve reduction in consumption. Show me you're willing to be convinced, a

Le sigh. Just because infections are increasing does not mean masks don't work. Tell me, what would the numbers be without masks?

You can get more than 8 without going to external enclosures. I have a tower case with 15 drive bays in it.

Very easily. Share the wealth now, and population growth will slow. When there are fewer humans on the planet, standards of living will rise. If humanity can't accept the temporary reduction of some people's standard of living t

What unintended consequences could possibly be worse than the intended consequences of having a system that depends on exponential growth?

Doesn't mean we still don't need to reduce numbers for long term sustainability.

Here you go: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-02801-8 Read that, chase down all the study links therein, and come back a week after you've found out you're wrong.

There's a difference between "mask mandates aren't making a difference" and " masks aren't effective." Take a look at Japan, where the government has done fuck all to deal with the virus, but people wea

Well, you know what? Plants reproduce, too. And, BTW, trees don't stop growing. They keep adding mass in their trunks. Literally the first google hit for "do trees stop growing": https://earthsky.org/earth&

No, that is wrong. Plants emit O2, and consume CO2. This is called respiration.

No, capitalism is the problem. You can't fix capitalism with more capitalism. Growth at all costs is what is killing us. Populations don't stabilize due to growth. They stabilize when the standard of living reaches a point wher

Again, that is not true. Trees need CO2 for respiration. Basic biology, folks.

Isn't it obvious when the surge would happen? Cases spike about 10 days after the precipitating events. Deaths spike about 3 weeks after the event, so, we'll be seeing a huge increase in deaths in about 2 weeks.

That's not true. Trees metabolize year round, and they literally breathe CO2.

I suspect you're going to get downvoted to hell, but you're right. And, the fact is, neither of these points are compatible with capitalism. There's also a point 6, which is reduce and then stabilize the global population at

You are aware that "temporarily" in this context is the lifespan of a tree, right? Trees live anywhere from several decades to 20+ centuries, and their remains, once broken down, provide nutrients to the soil so more trees can gr

This is mostly it. The floating head, plus the much smaller head size is what allows a more dense packing of tracks per inch on the disk. It's almost like having a mini HD where the platter is removable.

Back when Snowden initially did what he did, I had a conversation with some coworkers about whether he was a hero or a traitor for releasing that information. I, personally, concluded that he was a bit of both, but, on balance, I considere
