Genuinely curious if your comment is meant to be ironic?

I've spent a lot of time recently doing a deep dive into all the academic papers in a particular field of neurobiology, and I have a different approach: 1. Read the title and abstract 2. Read the methodology 3. If the methodology isn&#

I like that idea too, but I suspect that there are pretty much zero non-trivial projects that actually follow best practices like these consistently. Maybe I'm wrong.

That would probably makes things more difficult to MVP, but it seems doable to create a plugin for Word that's kind of pretty, and handles edits, editors, drafts, etc through git (maybe even distributed, although local would work fine)

Seems like a shoe in for an editor with git as a backend, and cute, inline diff visualization. Seems not terribly difficult to get an MVP out?

I tried using it on a github wiki page, and it broke because github wouldn't load the external javascript. So I copied the text and made a local html file. That didn't work because of these errors: Failed to load resource: net::ER

There are definitely amazing, luxurious aspects of programming. Something came into view for me recently though, that I never realized before: When I graduated from high school, I started my own little (tutoring) company, and did software f

The thing about pedantic snark (less/fewer), is that it loses its teeth when you're wrong. Even if you go in for prescriptive grammar, less and fewer were never strictly divided. The distinction actually came to us through one Mr.

I like techniques like this, but the issue I find myself struggling with a lot is that some tasks I have are ambiguous enough to be practically open ended. It's one thing to bang out 1000 words for a blog post, but I might decide that

The thesis is that everyone is a 10x engineer at certain moments. But that if that same person is put in a more challenging situation, they no longer will be 10x. Also, that's the situation they should consistently be in. Otherwise, a

Yeah, but there are second order effects. You've heard the terms "tattletale" and "snitch". They developed in reaction to a police force that is seen as outsiders, and as violent and arbitrary. If you invoke the &qu

I don't agree with Kevin. It's true that you can function without programming, but it's also true that being able to program could improve pretty much any job. Even a janitor could develop, say, a logistics application to opt

The fact that this is an interesting article is a huge indictment of CSS. It was developed for a different, simpler use case, and it's obviously the wrong abstraction at this point. Too bad it's entrenched.

The idea is maybe clever, but it has at least 2 major downfalls. 1. The system is gamable by the trolls. Hurricanes don't care if you're insured, but trolls have an interest in taking troll insurance down. The way insurance works

Even if we had a healthy market, which we don't, the people who lost their jobs don't have "marginally less" income. They have zero income. They are not happy.

Yeah, I agree with you -- the part I was saying the Luddites were right about is that at some point, technology obviates the need for everyone to be employed. I think that's a great thing, and I welcome it despite the enormously painfu
