This seems like an interesting example of the fundamental attribution error. I guess one could phrase it: I see others as they are and myself as I hope to be.

I think you may be missing some of the difficulty in RWD. The hard part, as you said, isn't implementing a few media queries and resizing stuff. That is easy, you're right. The hard part is the design . If you need to shrink an element dow

I think you have an unrealistic view of how well a large team of engineers can "self organize." It's hard to keep track of the 10,000ft view when that's your job, it's nearly impossible when you're in the thick of code, in some subsection o

I was married to a professor for years, and it's a little more complicated than that. Full time professors do have some leeway, but they catch shit if they try to require something "weird," or inconsistent with other professors teaching sim

Sure, but the only people I've interviewed have either been employed at the time and looking to move, or they have had really specific job requirements, like: I want to be a web dev, but I want to write python only, but nothing Django. I wo

I've never tried it, but I can speculate that it's similar to the 100+ms latency of comparable devices. It needs to be more on the order of 5-10ms for it to truly viable, and then the screens need to be bigger to make it feasible to do a lo

As what I would describe as a "semipro" artist, I would not use an ipad to draw, because the latency isn't good enough yet. People might play with it, but no professional can use it until the latency is about 10 times better than it current

This is interesting because I've seen the opposite trend. You seem to view food as a kind of art (and more power to you), but many people hold the very American view that food is magic. It's medicine for sadness, it's a symbol of manliness,

I have a PS3 because it's dead simple to buy a game, pop it in, and just play it without worrying about anything else. I would never use this, it defeats the purpose of the ps3 for me. I'd rather just spend $20 on a game.

Being "fearful" or "worried" about the political consequences of a document being made public isn't the same as "terror." Not wanting to leave your family alone because they may be raped and murdered is terrifying. I think that's the diluti

In my experience, if the book isn't a blockbuster with a huge marketing budget, ratings make or break it. If someone searches for a book on amazon, and finds a "maybe," they look at reviews. If the reviews are consistently good, they buy. I

I'm not sure of the exact dates we've been at war since WW2, but I just checked and saw that we've been engaged in armed conflict continuously since at least before I was born. I don't think that rule would really work. "No, I mean a REAL w

Newer/better ones will force you to take your card back before dispensing cash, which I think it's an elegant solution. Keeping your card in the first place is, I suspect, a security thing.

Facebook has "circles" but they are called "groups." I have sources that say, unofficially that: 1) They were not blindsided at all. They worked hard to compete on major features before g+ ever came out. 2) "Groups" has more or less similar

Dissent IS crime though. For example, stealing is dissent from the accepted notion that property can be owned. It's an assumption so baked into your brain that you accept it implicitly, but it's not a law of physics or anything. Any deviati
