Hmm. I didn't even think about it, it just sounded like the best way to put it — "SICP" as a noun due to the fact that it's so well known. I guess it's not that terrible of a mistake, as you were the only one to notice, but thanks for the c

I had high opinions of Etsy after reading about their work environment and ethics, but that is just a terrible move. The only way to minimize the damages would be to roll back the feature completely and apologize. Or turn it off for everyon

So do you think teachers just arrive in class on Monday morning and start teaching something out of thin air? A large amount of time is spent preparing material for class, and that time is not "vacation".

Greetings, non-French comrade! Your quote is a bit off — it reads "the more it changes it, the more it the same". A better way to write it would be "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose." :) [/language pedantic]

This is amazing. I didn't know this system at all. a-priori's comment is probably in the right then! (And "descenseur" seems to be an actual French word according to http://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/descenseur , so much for showing off and kn

Well, this is the pun; although I guess a better description would be "a made-up word with a meaning that might not be instantly clear to non-French speakers" rather than a "pun".

There's an interesting pun in this one: http://acidcow.com/pics/20110225/future_11.jpg The label next to "concierge" reads "descenseur". It's a reference to the French word for a lift, "ascenseur", from "ascension", "to go upwards". A des

That's probably one of the best comments to demonstrate the "engineer spirit": no quabble about the sexism claims, the quality of the pixel art, or if it's a good way to make people pick good passwords... Mere optimization .

It might be Intel trying to impose their Light Peak format. They already decided to postpone USB3 in their motherboards in favor of Light Peak. Maybe the sweetheart deal with Apple over being the first ones to implement this tech included a

Okay, grammatical quibbles aside, this blog post is scary . Harvesting that much information about your customers is creepy and dangerous. I don't care that it helps your business or that it's technically feasible, it's just wrong.

The best part is when the author explains how Stuxnet attacks SCADA, then goes on quoting Schneier: "(the press often refers to these as SCADA systems, which is technically incorrect)".

I work in a French administration. We have a special day, the "journée des nouveaux arrivants" ("newcomers' day") for new hires, where we are taught the history of the service and learn about the different departments. The only problem is,
