Nope, DDR4-4000 is not "running at 4 GHz". SDRAM 133 ran at 133 MHz, but DDR numbers have always multiplied their frequency by "number of simultaneous transfers" or something like that. (The first DDR multiplied by two -

It's interesting to juxtapose Bill Gates' report with the much more detailed and first-hand one linked here. Without having more certainty than is warranted, it seems plausible that Bill Gates took Prime Minister Modi's word

Maybe patient handoffs are so dangerous because of the dysfunction everywhere else in the system. Maybe patient current-state summary and recent-changes log could be much better maintained, if doctors had a bit more time and the forms/

Right, but "unprivileged user namespaces" are disabled in many contexts, because they've been a source of many vulnerabilities due to code originally thought to only be reachable by root anyway. Archlinux has user namespaces

You misunderstand the physical car market metaphor - the high quality cars are not sold faster. They are taken off the market and not sold at all, because the market price is too low. The market price is too low because the buyers can

This is the standard strategy that every antivirus product has used for most of their history. Remember the one about Symantec doing exactly this in a kernel module: https://googleprojectzero.blogspot.com/2016/06/h

Another difference from the metaphor is that busting down doors is visible and obvious, and doesn't scale. Imagine if the government busted down a quarter of all doors in the country - that's a lot of industrial-scale police work,

True, but you know how it is ... the management of these companies would prefer to do nothing if it is possible. They'll put most of their efforts into that strategy.

I think Lua, statically compiled against musl libc, can fit in 200KiB. Not in a (32KiB) L1 cache as the grand-parent comment asked, but in L2. There's also LuaJIT, which I think is only a bit bigger, I'm not sure ...

Websockets are indeed a complication, I'm guessing for haproxy also. But it seems nginx has a recently added feature which can fix this: https://nginx.org/en/docs/ngx_core_module.html#worker_shutdo...

Executing a template, writing it to a file, and sending SIGHUP, is not that hugely different from composing a request and writing it to a control socket. Maybe nginx isn't better than haproxy for many purposes. But updating configurati

nginx can reload the config files without closing the listening port or interrupting any existing requests. haproxy can't do that. So you can actually live-update on-demand much more of the nginx configuration than you can the haproxy
