So MS lied in an interview. Or the press person was not very knowledgeable. But how would that even work, that data can only be accessed locally? How does a computer decide if the intent to access a file is coming from the user in front of

Nothing in this FAQ is in any way surprising. If someone (“hackers”) gains remote access to your PC, they can also install a key logger and take screenshots. They just don’t have access to the historic data.

I understand that this feature is highly controversial and I myself have mixed feelings about it. But I don’t understand what is being “pwned” here: isn’t providing a photographic memory of everything you do on your PC exactly what this is

Imagine there are only 2 brands of cars, and one of them disables the engine as soon as the driver wants to enter your drive-thru. Imagine also that this car brand operates a chain of drive-thru restaurants that their cars will happily visi

Moore's Law actually refers to the density of transistors on a chip doubling approximately every two years, not CPU speed. Yes, CPUs still get exponentially faster, but this affects multi core throughput, single thread performance imp

This is not what I meant. But I prefer a fork of an abandoned project which needs to gain new trust to be installed instead of a new release pushed through an auto update after 3 years that installs malware. The parent comment was not about

But this is dangerous. There are many „Jia Tans“ out there who would love to continue maintenance of those projects with the full community.

Don’t do this to learn if you really want to use the servers for important data and expose them to the internet. You can shoot your foot with docker containers, but you can shoot your face by blindly installing dozens of packages and their

You're probably better off with a recursive wget here. IIRC redmine was not really javascript heavy and monolith looks to me like it only saves one page.

Unfortunately, I don't think the real world applications of this exploit are explained anywhere. From skimming the paper , it looks like the attacker needs to be able to a) run code on the victim's machine and b) trigger the encry

Obviously this guy was fooled by a friend who was using his iPhone to remotely operate the watch (which explains the „we are in control“ phrase). Now in this forum numerous people that simply have a broken digitizer chime in. Case closed.
