Lol, who talks like this? Like I said, you are right about everything. I'm an uncultured imbecile. I'll start reading more, going to museums. I'll travel the world. Europe is paramount when considering US charging infrastruc

Okay, I sincerely apologize for not saying that "every company in North America" has failed. I probably just figured that since this whole conversation is about the North American Charging Standard it was implied. But you are righ

I'm in the middle of switching now, from Silverblue. It's a lot of fun. The Arch wiki to do something will have you changing three files and restarting 2 services, while with NixOS you add a line to your config and you're don

But poor white people are poor for a reason other than the color of the skin of themselves and their ancestors. And black folks who are doing fine, but not great, might be doing great right now if not for the color of their skin. Sure, affi

This is the North American charging standard. North America previously standardized on CCS1 (which is exactly the same as CCS2, but without 3-phase support, which we don't need here) and it has done nothing. My perspective is plenty br

All well and good to say, but every other company that has tried to charge EVs has utterly failed, and it's been over a decade now. Once customers can move freely between all the networks, the ones with bad reliability will disappear.

From what I can tell with my eyeballs, whatever the voltage limit is, it's less for NACS, since the DC pins are closer together.

Seems like a choice between continuing to compete in one market, or competing in the same market while also absolutely dominating another.

That really needs to be fixed. I live in NE, and if I need to go to Beaverton, I ride my bike to the West side of downtown to catch the Max there. It saves 30 full minutes. They need to get rid of half the downtown stops.

Statistically, the Max is way safer than your minivan. I take my family on the Max all the time.

Zoning is how you start to fix density issues. And getting rid of parking minimums. Charging fair market rates for existing parking can funnel more money in to public transport while also making it the cheaper option. Dedicated bus lanes an

I meant stuff like city counsel passing a new zoning law. Maybe some concrete bollards to make a protected bike lane. Run a few more busses and trains. That kind of thing.

Sure, turning Houston into Madrid would be very hard. But this is one of the most incrementally solvable problems I've ever seen. There are hundreds of low-cost, low-effort ways to start making things better.

Oh, yeah, that doesn’t bother me either. When the lanes get really faint and I have to drive for a bit, that’s fine. I guess it comes down to preference. I see it as assistance. I want a helper who maybe can’t do it all, but never fucks up.

I’ve personally enjoyed auto steer on every car I’ve driven not a Tesla. Some let you keep your hands off the wheel, and none of them phantom break every couple hundred miles, which is the ultimate deal breaker.

How much would it cost at the July 1 API prices? If it's less than $10/month, why didn't all these apps just go subscription only?

Personally, I have so many great, local breweries, I never think to get anything from out of state, usually not even out-of-city. This sounds like a reasonable move seeing the proliferation of great beers.

Pricing always effects demand. If it’s not enough, double it next year. Keep doing it until you can have conversation in the greatest city in NA without being drowned out by car horns.
