I know somebody who relocated his entire family after 20+ years in the U.S and is loving it. People are not as monolithic as we are likely to believe sometimes.

One additional bit of context on the Indian indentured labour is that crossing the seas was considered a great taboo among Hindus, leading to a loss of your "caste" because you had lost contact with the holy land. So only the very

Here's another one: pre-Musk Twitter takeover, they had him on to make his point. Musk made an erroneous statistical comparison between Twitter likes and YouTube views to demonstrate that Twitter was shadowbanning his tweets. When in f

This government's track record of passing radical reforms has been pretty poor (the Farm bills, labour reforms, GST implementation) so I am not holding my breath. It is not the supermajority that was hindering the Farm bills either - t

I was able to install the app to buy rolls of tickets (actually heavily discounted on the app vs in person) and use the app via NFC to pay. Never had to deal with paper tickets outside of the airport.

The first season was the weakest. Seasons 2-4 are some of the best television ever IMHO. Once they stopped trying to make it Mad Men with tech, they freed themselves up to succeed.

Plosives are a big category. "k" is also a plosive, but does not sound anything like a <d> or <p>. d and p are plosives but are made using completely different parts of the mouth (dental vs labial). Perhaps some lingui

Linguistically, I don't think d and p are close at all. But a sibling comment also links to the Wikipedia entry for this common fallacy.
