I'm in the US and not a sports fan and I regularly find myself in groups where the topic of conversation is sports. It's a little uncomfortable for me because it's assumed that all men are sports fans in my city (Boston). My

Yes, that's definitely true. Plus iPads are not essential in the way phones are. They're luxury items.

I used to work for Gazelle, a company that buys used iPhones, iPads, etc. from consumers. We found that the iPads we bought were generally in much worse shape than the iPhones. We believed this suggested that people were using their iPads q

That was a typo he meant, "because you do not see the value in what I am trying to protect." He corrected himself in a later email to the thread.

Ok, so why do you advocate open spaces? Personally I hate them because they destroy my productivity and that's the one thing I enjoy about work. The trade off is that I hear a lot more office gossip as well as lots of details of my cow

Maybe because most people here never ever change their SIM card. You buy a phone and you're basically locked into your carrier until your contract expires, then you buy a new phone because it's the only way to justify the ridiculo

Yeah, that was my impression too. My take on it is that based on their reputation they can add a bit of creativity to product design that either is not present, or ignored, in their large corporate customer's own internal design depart

Fixing this stupid issue seems like such an obvious thing to do I can't imagine why it wasn't addressed ages ago. Having property notation would immediately get rid of 30% of the code in the codebase I currently work with, and tha

This reminds me of a book a friend of mine wrote years ago called, "Mr Bunny's Guide to ActiveX" which I believe originally came with crayons, or at least that was his intention. http://www.amazon.com/Bunnys-G

Most people put Apple phones in cases anyway, so does it really even matter much how the bare phone looks? It doesn't to me. The protruding camera lens housing will probably be flush with a case.

Where did you find a GUI Emacs that doesn't have colors? I use http://emacsforosx.com . To set a color theme: M-x customize-themes. You might want/need to install more themes, you can do that with the package manager (M

Speaking of Java logging, that's one area that drives me batty. The lack of a good standard Java logging library caused a multitude of logging libraries to be written. Different libraries then of course use different logging libraries,

This is not strictly true. If I forgot to quit my RunKeeper app my battery will be dead within a few hours. If the app's doing something like using GPS poorly (which I'd say RunKeeper is) then it's better to force it to quit.

Agree with the less is more idea when it comes to configuration. An additional benefit to this is that it's more comfortable to use vanilla emacs when you need to work on hosts you don't typically use.
