I'm a little disappointed that they've gone down this road - I don't think donations is a good model for most open-source tools. I'm building & selling a 100% open-source product myself ( https://httptoolki

For the marketing itself consent isn't needed, but for collecting/processing personal data for marketing I'm pretty confident it is. Why wouldn't that fall under GDPR?

While the mac address is a particularly egregious note, really they shouldn't be sending any data to ad firms whatsoever without consent, and fixing the referrer alone won't help much. Aside from the data they're explicitly s

It's not about unpaid work though, it's employee-like unpaid work. https://meta.stackexchange.com/a/337123/345240 has some interesting discussion of this. In practice, that means that normal commenters o

This is really cool, but I'm slightly sad that it looks like they've taken the same approach as Chrome: treat the whole websocket connection as a single item in the list of requests, and then show the frames within separately whe

Yeah, eventually I'd love to be able to do scripting etc, but it's dramatically more complicated. There's the language debate to start with. E.g. Fiddler uses JScript.NET, which isn't exactly the language of choice nowad

Absolutely! In fact AGPL v3 guarantees that right (otherwise in the US I think arguably the DMCA blocks breaking access protections like that). In practice, I'm not too worried. It's a fair bit of a hassle, as you'd have to r
