The incident happening virtually at the same time as the Baltic Pipe is opening also points towards Russia. "Nice brand new pipeline you got there".

Not at all. Russia didn't scream bloody murder for MH17, or for innocent Russian citizens being poisoned abroad. They did scream bloody murder, for example, when Ukraine had the gall to fight back and raid ammo stores in Belgorod.

I had your exact same reaction, except with the US at the top of the suspects list (or non-governmental agents whose interests align with the US, of which there are plenty). The #1 reason I'm still leaning Russia nevertheless is becaus

I agree with this assessment. My philosophy as tech lead was this: every time we wanted to start using a SaaS product, up to and including cloud hosting itself, we needed to have a Plan B to migrate to in case the service suddenly went away

The AGPL only covers modification to the software itself. So Amazon can take free code, sell it as a slickly-packaged service, and not need to share anything. The SSPL says that if they do so, they need to share the code they use to make it

I don't think this level of absolutism is justified. I think that it's a stretch to define cloud providers as "users" in the first place: What is Akka? A distributed messaging platform. If you want to use Akka to move me

That is very cool, but for a slightly off-topic consideration: I don't think I would want to travel at 60 km/h on a public road with nothing but an ultralight shell protecting me. (Yes, I know bikers go much faster with even less

Their secret sauce is "we have a Borg Cube's worth of datacenters, so we can run the same code as you at a lower price". The AGPL does nothing to prevent that. They aren't modifying Akka, they're just running it on

The cloud giants have gigantic moats in terms of infrastructure, marketing, process, and so on. Traditionally, one of the best paths for an upstart company to challenge an established giant was to develop superior technology. Indeed, this i

GraphQL is safer than SQL, but it can't be more performant, as it gets translated to SQL server-side. That said, you don't have to choose only one of the two. At my company we use a GraphQL backend for simple SELECTs which are the

GraphQL and REST are safer for the backend. You can trivially hog up a server with a single SQL query, even without any permissions. Or, more innocently, you can write some hilariously wasteful queries in SQL (join on string replacements? c
