Extra note (did not fit in the original submission) To me, UWP is definitely a good thing, but it's soooo unpolished, the docs are so trivial (lots of documentation that simply mimics the API itself), everything looks like it's ju

If I understand what you're saying correctly, you would need to pretty much be medium-to-intermediate at multi-threaded programming + C++. Capturing screen/webcams and adding extra layers can get really complex. If you can't

Thanks! I've read the article - now, I need to read the other articles it references to ;) > Which tool made a likable video does not matter to the viewer. Agreed, what I want to provide is a way for people to build those likeable v

Right, thanks for the advice. I do want to add a few more features and then do more or less just that. The way I validated the idea (at least, that was my train of thought) - was by publishing videos created with my app on twitter. While a

Here it is - https://phot-awe.com - it's Windows 10 only so far. I may port it to Mac/mobile 10+ months from now, if there's interest.

Oh yes there is. For one, thinking "desktop" is very very different than thinking "web". Dealing with "state" is much better/easier/clear in desktop than in web. An app on desktop, if well made, will

Find something you can endure long term. Doing exercise will clearly be hard, no matter how you slice or dice it. For me, it's 40 mins on indoor bike/ 4 times per week, but I do it at really High intensity, so it's really har

I completely understand. I'm in the process of rebuilding the UI - so I did not want to post "stale" screenshots. I really hope to have the new version of the app ready in less than a week, and then take a few screenshots and

In my case, they've been interspersed. Even features will change, as you gain more knowledge - and some things you thought as important, will turn out not to be. I will tell you this: it takes a lot of will power to continue working, i

C# / WPF. Unfortunately, it's become obsolete (WPF), and M$ is pushing UWP into view. I have lots and lots and lots of issues with that, I could probably write a book on it. They're working on WinUI 3.0, and that should b

I personally hate big companies. I don't like red tape, and they've got lots of it. Also, I hate politics, and they have lots of that too. I love small companies. Clearly, not any company will do - there are small companies th

I wholeheartedly agree. Even though I pretty much hate everything Mac, I'm also thinking of switching. MS has lost its vision for years. Their "innovation" is just some idiot coming up with a completely stupid idea, and convi

there's a difference between adapting to every screen, and being mobile first. The point is: no matter what you do, to have an app that works on both mobile and desktop, you'll need two UIs (otherwise, you'll get a crappy UI

I have an indoor bike. It's pretty awesome. I hurt my foot about 1.5 years ago, and combined with way too much work, I stopped doing sports. Luckily, I got back in the game roughly at start of Dec. Now, I do 4 times/week, 40 minut

I love the article! Couldn't agree more! One of the trends was set by, who else, Microsoft. They went mobile first, failed miserably, but still kept the concepts. It's prevalent in their UWP apps - especially settings, in Win10 -

Visual Studio + UWP. I can't say the result is not good, but the wasted time is waaaay over 100 hours in the span of roughly 9 months. And by waaay over 100 hours, I would say it's probably 1.5-2 hours/day , 7 days/week.
