Agreed. However, I assume there are other ways to compile parts of the system so you can test parts of it, to make it bearable. But yeah, compile times like that would send me off a cliff.

Congrats ;) Yeah, that is very very different than what I've encountered over the years.

Thanks for the link, but I'm pretty sure this wouldn't really solve my (C++) issues. MSVC does quite a lot of caching, and still runs into a looot of compilation times (and also, link times, which I initially forgot to mention ;))

I've been doing remote work for 15+ years. As long as you (the customer) can clearly articulate what you want done, I can do it. So long story short - as long as you know what tasks you want done and in how long a period of time, this

Yes it does. The interesting thing is that you only realize it later (at least in my case) - probably 3-6-12 months down the road, as you need to do more and more and more. But that's ok, in time you learn to cope with it.

It may well be, but in all seriousness, buy a thermometer and do accurate testing.

Right now I'm on github -- for about 2 months now. The integration with Visual Studio is simply amazing! I used to be on bitbucket (mercurial), until they announced they would no longer host it. I tried to convert it to git - even thou

These are not ordinary times. Seems that it takes quite a lot of time for a lot of people to grasp the severity of the situation. My take is that in the near term (1-2 months), there will be a shortage of a lot of produce, especially food.

Much much better than an app! And besides, an app like that - unless open source, it's very likely someone will be using it for spying on you.

Reading about this was actually cool! I guess validating an idea and creating a good product can certainly count (clearly, much easier said than done). Or, finding a company that does good, and going to work there.

If you're smart and you have a good idea, I don't see why not. I only have high school (I haven't needed to pitch an idea yet :)) Don't let that bug you -- if the idea is good, they'll listen.
