In my experience, LLMs do not make a lot of the security mistakes most developers do, just because it is aware of their existence while most devs just are not. But then they could also make the mistake at some point, and the vibe coder guid

My friend has a small public gitea instance, only use by him a a few friends. He's getting thousounds of requests an hour from bots. I'm sorry but even if it does not impact his service, at the very least it feels like harassment

Are LLMs better or worse at security than a team full of fresh graduates?

Oh I wasn't aware of that. I remember a Dutch friend talking to me about a similar app they had. Maybe they have a re-branded version of it?

It's amazing to make small custom apps and scripts, and they're such high quality (compared to what I would half-ass write and never finish/polish them) that they don't end up as "throwaway", I keep using them

Myeah I think you're just going to badly managed stores. Here I just scan my groceries while putting them in my bag. Then I go to self checkout, put back the scanner and pay. It takes about one minute from entering the self checkout to

In Europe we have itsme. You link the phone app to your ID, then you can use it to scan QR codes to log into websites.

They tax everything at 25%. They just added an exception for books.

I wanted to try using n8n in my homelab, but was very disappointed to see the SSO behind a paywall even in the community edition. Bit of a deal breaker for me unfortunately.

> What class of software can work this bad and still have people convinced the only solution is to double the amount of compute and data they need, again? Cloud providers :)))

I agree with you. The downfall will not be caused by the AI working/not working. It will be caused by all the damn lies all these money hungry snakes are shouting.

Sometimes, it also tells you it is done, but if you look at the code, there's a bunch of placeholder comments in the style of "will implement this later if we figure out how to do it".

Same here, mostly because I avoid it because I really do not like writing queries. Something about the syntax rubs me the wrong way, especially if I have to switch from MySQL/Postgres/MSSQL regularly. I'll use an ORM whenever

It's alright until you have a bug the LLM can't solve, then you have to go in the code yourself and you realize what a mess it has made.

You forgot the enormous learning curve of understanding how browsers work and how to write proper code in Ladybug that doesn't waste the maintainers´ time. Last time I tried, I couldn't find a website that worked with it. Where do

We need better local LLMs to stop relying on these predatory companies. Anthropic is not even 5 years old (and Claude 2yo) and already showing their teeth. And to be clear, the users abusing the "unlimited" rates they were offeri

I really wish some of my coworkers would stop using LLMs to write me emails or even Teams messages. It does feel extremely rude, to the point I don't even want to read them anymore.

I would say most people are capable of learning and behaving. But our system is riddled with cancerous tumors that are trying to accumulate all resources to the detriment of the rest of the system.
