Indeed, I keep seeing comments stating that LLMs have completely changed their way of programming or even changed their lives. All I can think is, they must have been pretty bad at programming for the impact to be that dramatic.

You probably want the version of it they sold you in the advertising. Or are you actually happy with the slop they're currently shipping?

... What? You make no sense. Just let users that know what they are doing root their device while normies stay in userland.

So what's your alternative if I don't want ads (content is not free to make), want the creators to be paid, and paying for premium is tempting YouTube to abuse pricing? (or so you say)

What? We have dozens of microservices owned by multiple teams, but nothing stops you from cloning the git repository of another team's microservice and debug it the same way you would debug your own.

We mostly have dotnet services in k8s, using Rider (IDE) and Telepresence for remote debugging. Having observability (OpenTelemetry) is also really useful.

This is the worst thing ever. I have coworkers who literally cannot string three words together without making a grammar mistake, but recently they've been texting me with more-than-perfect grammar and a vast vocabulary. These people a

Yes, it's perfectly doable even if you're doing microservices. Not being able to debug your application is an engineering failure.

Sure, keep slowly offloading more and more of your brain to technology. Until you won't be needed anymore.

It's just bad faith argument after bad faith argument with these contrarian folks. I have to laugh every time I see systemd mentioned as an "easier" alternative.

If I have to review all code code it's writing, I'd rather write it myself (maybe with the help of an LLM). > anyway, obviously do whatever you want, but deriding something you've not looked in to isn't a hugely thoug

I will definitely sleep on agents. Normal LLM use, fine, but I am not giving up reasoning.

Not really. I had fellow students who understood nothing, could not program at all, but could tell you the answer to question 6 of the 2015 Java exam because they had memorized it all.

Looks alright, but I don't understand why I would pay for this when projects like OpenWebUI are open source, free, and much more complete. Also no Linux support planned :(

I really, really don't understand this either. Sometimes I feel like I must be using different LLMs than some HNers because my experience of them is the complete opposite of what they describe.

It depends on the time scale you are looking at it with. It looks saturated short-term, but it surely is not long term. The problem will only show up once your surgeons start retiring.
