I definitely see the appeal here. Do you have any plans to give schools an on-site solution, rather than use your servers? Do you do this? Your site is rather light on details.

One of the major pains in the butt for a teacher is getting students set up on a learning web app. Either you spend a bunch of your own time making an account for each student (which is time you could spend doing something more important) o

Clever is an SIS: student information system. The SIS we use at my school is a web app that integrates all the database functions you might associate with schools: scheduling, grading, attendance, discipline, etc. Ours is ugly but functiona

Not if they plug into a traditional wall outlet. There are rules and laws about these things. If the outlet has a T-slot on one side, it can take 125V 20A plugs (125*20 = 2.5kW) as well as the traditional 125V 15A plugs. They're different p

I agree. It also points out to me my biggest complaint with calling programmers "software engineers". A Professional Engineer (i.e. licensed, capital P and E) would never say, "Oh, you don't have an arc welder? No rivet gun? Well, I suppose

They push an update to iOS 5? Which has OTA self-updates. Lion and Snow Leopard and Vista and countless other old OSes get updates. XP still won't get EOS-ed for another 2 years.

There are fewer Linux users than Mac users, and fewer Mac users than Windows users. Thus, the mean sale price for Linux users is more strongly affected by any single big sale than the mean sale price for Mac or Windows users. I'd be curious

It also gets Apple more information on the developer, should the company ever want to track them down. A payment history leaves a wider and longer paper trail. I'd also assume that Apple blacklists any certificate if the developer used some

Huh. The Metro Group is much, much bigger than I imagined when I saw it was a German store. Wikipedia says they're the 5th biggest retailer in the world, 67B Euro in revenue in 2010. Surprised this American, that's for sure. I can imagine w

Siracusa's review is expected, and I'm sure a lot of HN folks saw it coming. Despite the fact that it's new and comprehensive, it's not nearly as new and exciting as Marco's blog post. Plus, comedy will almost always do better than a review
