I've noticed this on the blog too. The Design System itself has better spacing. Take a look at this page as an example: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-safely-with-respiratory-i...

Rendering them inline might not be ideal but user research has shown that having more than a couple of tabs on mobile leads to problems. They are exacerbated when the tabs wrap on to multiple lines - or heaven forbid, require horizonal scro

How do you mean wrong? It's meant to look like a small table of contents that links to the relevant subheading beneath.

It's my side project and definitely not official . It's a library aimed at making it easy to use the official components[0] Rails-friendly. [0] https://design-system.service.gov.uk/components/

This is my side project, I'm a dev currently contracting at DfE. This library and the form builder[0] make working with the design system easier for Rails devs. [0] https://govuk-form-builder.netlify.app/

I've used gists since the beginning and didn't even realise you could treat it like a git repo.

Just taste really, it sounds wrong to me. On the scale of new words I dislike, it's nothing compared to how football pundits describe players as 'unplayable' when they're on form.

It was only added to the OED in 2018 after being misused in tech for fifteen or so years. Originally a performant was someone who'd performed in something (similar to combatant). Unfortunately it stuck.

I tend to use fzf for jumping rather than searching. To jump to a single instance you'd just type in some letters from each word and hit enter. If I wanted all occurrences of lines that match a pattern I'd use vim-grepper (which u

I've used Fedora as my day-to-day OS for data work and web dev for the last few years. It just works with my ThinkPad, looks great (recent GNOME with Wayland is really polished) and RPMs for any tools you might need are usually availab

Does the same answer need to apply to a two person startup and a multinational tech giant?

Is that because the right answer depends on a multitude of things (ie neither is always better). The problem you're trying to solve, the size/expertise of your team, scale, customer expectations, legacy integrations.

So 37GB of source code is clearly a lot, but for someone unenlightened what kind of size are we looking at for the bigger projects? For example, Windows, Office, Exchange.

This is great when you want to jump to a specific place. I also use vim-grepper (mapped to leader-g) for finding in files and populating the quickfix list. https://github.com/mhinz/vim-grepper

I've just taken Fish for a test drive and I'm really impressed. I use the Starship prompt in Zsh and it worked out of the box in Fish. It appears direnv will too (which I rely on). The one thing I can't work out is how to cha

I had this worry too, I now use Bitwarden for my phone authenticator app needs. Everything's safe, backed up and I need my Yubikey to unlock it. I can use it from my computer too, which is a side benefit.
