Rendering them inline might not be ideal but user research has shown that having more than a couple of tabs on mobile leads to problems. They are exacerbated when the tabs wrap on to multiple lines - or heaven forbid, require horizonal scrolling. From a usability point of view rendering the content online makes sense. It has the added benefit of working well for people who have disabled JavaScript too.
