I'm not really familiar with compostable plates, but unless they eat from large plant leaves, the plates are probably made somehow. And to make them, someone probably uses resources, like energy and raw material. And they have to be sh

To try WebKit you don't need to. It builds a very basic browser, either GTK+ or Qt based.

It doesn't matter unless they make it open-source or at the very least cross-platform. I'm not downloading a 4GB VM from http://modern.ie to try it.

Tip for NYT tech: try the page on rotated monitors. The notes and the picture don't match — people are cut off left and right.

My only feature request is GUI-less builds, to match running it GUI-less. This would significantly cut down on dependencies and also reduce compile time. I notice there was a discussion about this on inkspace-devel years ago, but it yielded

It shows that margin on Apple products is too high. This leaves plenty of room for some company to come into the market and steal their customers. That it hasn't happened shows the strength of Apple. They make products people will pay

That's fine and well, but maybe Google can tell now why they very quietly cancelled YouTube Feather. It was the best way to avoid comments. It stopped working some day, and Google was supposedly working on a fix. A few weeks later, it

There was a long interview with Snowden posted recently, which didn't make it to the frontpage. I guess because of Snowden penalty on HN and Snowden fatigue. Anyway, he kept repeating a point which is quite easy to understand for the p

I'm sure it will be, but if it's not open-source (and hence cross-platform) they might as well not bother. I'm not downloading a 4GB VM from modern.ie to try it.

Personally, I wouldn't run at 30Hz if someone paid me for it. And you don't have to either, because 60Hz support for your GPU is available (from kernel 3.17 best I can tell). You may have to enable DP1.2 or MST in your monitor set

I don't think that's the whole story. Most likely the numbers just don't add up for IAP-less Steam versions. Kingdom Rush Steam sells for $9.99 (and was available for less if you pre-ordered). I don't know about Origins,

Yes, that makes it even stranger. Why use an unsigned 4-byte integer when tags are mapped to a number internally. Unless they anticipate to map more than 2^8-1 or 2^16-1 different tags. Maybe I'm reading it wrong. extension_tag

I notice the container has no ICC profile support. Trivial do add as an extension tag, but should definitely be in the first spec IMO. And if I read this correctly, extension tags are hardcoded as numbers, rather than using a tag name. I do

Sorry, but I'm incredibly wary of anything Linux related from Img, particularly drivers. Poulsbo was a fiasco, and the situation has not improved significantly since. (And it's not just Linux. Intel had to delay the N2800 and rela

I wonder if this is why Google Cloud as of recently doesn't allow non-business users in the EU to sign up for their services (and changed the status of current users from personal to business). Seems like a poor response to this new la
