Sorry to hear that. We're having some load issues but we should have everything stable shortly.

Sorry about that. We use sunlightlabs excellent Congress API but there are a few quirks with it. Try changing to another zipcode in your area and you should see results.

This frustrates me too. At least half of the releases I see on GitHub could use a screenshot. For technically minded non-programmers there are instructions on a lot of projects on how to download and build but anyone who has never used a

I don't know what mozilla is doing but at least IE has improved since "filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader (src='images/image.png',sizingMethod='scale');"

It wouldn't be surprising, the reddit community is growing quickly and I expect linkedin has a lower pages/visit than reddit.

Reddit has sponsored links paid by CPM so all eyeballs account for some revenue. I don't have any info on profit but between the ads, reddit gold and schwag i'd guess they're in the black.

I'm not a good designer but i've been improving for years mostly by putting in my hours. Aside from learning some basic photoshop skills, the best piece of advice I can give you is to read and re-read this article: http://flyosity.com/tut

That's part of what appealed to me at the ad agency I worked at. It's fun to build things as quickly as possible sometimes. I'm glad I'm not doing that constantly anymore though.

Applying for jobs isn't going to hurt you in any way. Go to a few interviews at companies looking for jr devs or devs and see how you do. If you don't get the jobs, ask for feedback. If nothing else you'll get some practice interviewing.

This could involve auto-submitting every blog post to HN once it gets a comment which might be slightly better. Best case would be to check if the article has been submitted to HN and if not default to the blog's own commenting system.

Your comment is heavy with comparisons that don't really apply while still not making much of a point. Javascript isn't as low level as other languages but HTML is no more the next step than XML is the next rung down from java. If you hadn
