I think most countries are corrupt, but the amount that it's normalized in America is certainly unique. People in most countries act like corruption is a blight, here it's not even commented on.

It's funny how each time a scandal comes out in America, it's treated as if it's new and separate. The truth is that there is one solid pattern in every single American scandal, and that is corruption. America is built on cor

I saw the same at CircleCI with clojure. People want to use functional langs in real systems - we had a lot of Haskell lovers apply because "close enough". Way easier than hiring rails devs. One of the reasons I'm using OCaml

You've hit the nail on the head with "button B can only be pushed at night". If we set up society such that it's riskier for one group to access good earning potential, basically the definition of systemic bias. To be mo

You are letting my point sail over you. How do women come to those "powerfully different preferences"? Do we think that all women got together and decided to only drive at less valuable times? Or is it more likely that there are s

So the service can be unbiased, but the society/system it exists in will still be biased.

The problem I have with your statement is that you are attributing something to somebody about which you know nothing, based on almost no information. A less asshole-y phrasing would be "I wonder if he had reduced his ambitions somewha

By "general space" I meant "rethinking programming to a certain extent". Our particular version is at http://ellenandpaulsnewstartup.com . A good way to think about it is "build instagram in an afternoon&

As someone making something in the same general space as Eve, very sad to see this happen. Thanks for taking a shot and proving that there are other ways of thinking about programming! Looking forward to the writeup.

I agree conceptually: if both sides consider the transaction to in ethereum-denominated currency, then there is a logical argument to what you said. But legally, ETH is not a currency. If they take this to court, the court will award the or

"Purchased using" is not the same as "price tag in". If I'm in the US, and I buy something from the UK, I would have paid GBP. My refund would be expected in GBP and they are not responsible for the currency fluctua

I agree. But is explicitly not that. Often your currency is backed by nothing at all, with no potential for it to even be worth anything.

What was the price tag in? If the price tag was $1, they owe $1. If the price tag was 1 eth, they owe 1 eth. [edit: I've changed my mind. They bought an asset for $x in USD, they are owed $x in USD]
