Good luck, I'm afraid that you're up against a really difficult problem. I earnestly have no doubt your girlfriend is a wonderful person, but thought patterns that lead to such beliefs, once established, appear to be very hard to

I know a really successful, world-class, senior Google engineer who doesn't have a high-school diploma. He's very smart and incredibly hard-working, a great mentor and an inspiration to others. He's also probably been lucky.

Beware of foregoing formal university education just because you are getting coding gigs. CS/math fundamentals are golden and make the difference between you being just another redundant dime-a-dozen ruby coder and a world-class engine

I wonder whether there is a limit to the size of the soundboard at which the extra amplified overtones start to muddle the cords even played in the middle register and above. Big grand pianos are not particularly transportable and organs ha

Thanks! Of course you're right -- I just mentioned several hours worth of non self-reported tests (performed by a psychologist by referral from an MD that has perhaps already taken history and self-reported stuff) because that is at le

What part of my above comment was passive? You just told the person that might really benefit from seeing a psych* specialist that adhd is bullshit and they just need to stop procrastinating. You are obviously neither a doctor nor a psycho

Consider this: you mentioned a history of depression. Depression doesn't have to be at the level of a major depression to affect your functioning. And moderate chronic depression will certainly affect your focus. I hope I'm wrong,

Also: regularly do something fun that's not computer-based. Schedule obligatory "play time" and don't tell yourself you "don't deserve it". Treat it like food (or exercise, or sleep): basic survival need.

Something you can start doing right now: exercise and take non-computer breaks. Even 30 minutes of walking around will sharpen your focus. 20 minutes on an elliptical will be even better. There's ample clinical evidence on how exercise

Supreme Court holds that a proper remedy to hate speech is not censorship, but more free speech. Publishing slanderous accusations ("Wadhwa invites women to his office hint hint wink wink ") only serves to discredit the cause.

My thoughts on the original article: I'm sure Wadhwa does a lot of things that are counterproductive to his stated goals and obstructive to the women trying to have their voices heard. I'm sure he is oblivious to the fact that he
