Speaking as a member of the church, I've heard the position that, when in financial difficulty, first rely on family (where applicable), then rely on what's available through the government (which includes food stamps, unemploymen

Yes and no. One way to think of it is as a redistribution of wealth -- while some locations are pushing larger amounts of money into the system, others are undoubtedly receiving more than they give. The end result is that everyone, regardle

Personally, I like to find what people are interested in, and let them talk about that. I tend to learn things that I didn't know before, which is always interesting. For example, yesterday I was sitting by a guy who started talking ab

I believe the standard strategy here is to say you've been in an accident, you're in the hospital while traveling, your jaw was broken, and that's why you sound different. Or you're having the nurse call them. Something

A key fob only tells you that someone authorized to a certain apartment entered. It doesn't tell you if it's the husband, wife, kid, mother in law who watches the kids on Thursdays, or friend who's taking care of the plants w

This was my path -- I didn't know anything about code, but had a problem at work that could be solved if I learned a bit. So I did. Then kept doing it -- finding problems, learning how to solve them, and then coding solutions. Eventual

I also opened an account at a credit union less than a year ago. $5 was enough for a checking and saving account, though I had to wait a few days for my debit card to be mailed. I needed proof of residence and ID, but no proof of income.

That's my situation -- bike to the train on my own bike, leave it in a locker so I don't have to deal carrying it around, then grab a shared bike at the end of my trip and leave it near the office. If I had bikeshare near my home,

Based on a variety of comments here, I was curious about how many mass shootings there have been over the years. Mother Jones had a list that looked pretty good (well cited). I put it into a graph, which I think makes it a lot easier to und

Not necessarily -- if the first seller has it enabled, the second seller would just order it to be shipped directly from the first seller to the buyer, and never have it touch their inventory. Fun story! A family member wanted to buy an air

That is a recommended form if everyone has life preservers on (especially if you have small children -- they float in the middle of the group), but like the others have said, without additional flotation devices, it doesn't work.
