However we are not in a stable society like that. Things change - e.g. 50 years ago no online chats, no drones, very little terrorism, travel was more costly and slower, medical drugs were less efficient, live span was shorter.

This will cause problems with many things. Delivery Drivers/taxis use their own phones to tell you if their arrival times will change. Medical calls can come from personal phones.

Browsing is mainly of exploration (e.g. reading) then data entry (which does require a keyboard but all on one page no scrolling) and much less repeatable tasks. My hand is usually already on the mouse. Switching apps, scrolling text etc. I

But it covers only how to use a function if you know what the system is meant to do or know which function to call in the first place. You need some overalls documentation to explain the concepts and how to put things together. When the use

It helps to have lots of channels that specialise. I was effectively remote for 15 years (I was in London other in US). ` If you are concentrating then you don't notice the chats, unless they are made urgent. When your focus has finish

The issue is what is best for the company. If a person is not asking or answering questions then they are not a valuable member of the team. Keeping stuff secret and hidden does not help the project. If your team is 50 you are probably not

The reason for that is simple. money. In my first year FORTRAN or cards as you say then the University department bought a mini and used BASIC.

Look at 19th Century deaths in places like coal mines, deaths due to poisonous medicines, asbestos, lack of sewage. Public health has had more effect than anyother medical change.

Yes it does make sense in the general case. In the approved countries a regulatory body has had to approve this as a medical aid. If medical aids etc did not have to be approved then things that actually hurt and kill people could be sold a

In my case there is another reason - if it looks cross platform it is probably taking up more resources than a native app.

The trouble with this is most users only use one platform and so don't care. They just see the app as badly implemented as it does not match other apps on the platform.

Yes for epub - but not really for HTML to PDF, yes you can convert it but you do not get all the detailed niceties you get from say a LaTex to pdf transition, probably OK for a fiction or similar book but not a technical one.

Linux took off AFTER PCs were finally able to run operating systems with virtual memory. I was using VM systems running on PCS from 1989 (OS/2) Linux only started in 1991 and did not take off for say 10 years, by then Windows NT exist

There were article suggesting #define BEGIN { and #define end }; to make C look more like Pascal. I think in Europe C was not as common as other languages at the time so the terseness looked odd.

I had that as well but also Java passes strings in as f(String *) so the C++ code was f(new String("Hello")

Surely for the BBC Minor COLOUR was always the correct way. It was a bad show that they allowed COLOR as well. As each keyword was saved as a code - did COLOR and COLOUR really map to two different codes?

Word for windows was a port from Mac which was earlier. However my point was that IBM PC had won by 1986 - all business used that. Anything else was hobbyists only except Macs for publishing.

Correctly - read the documentation first before even loading the app. If the docs don't say why then you do not go to the second stage.

No the PC would still win as it has Office and other tools. Yes Archimedes probably would beat Amiga(which Commodore messed up), Atari . Apple Macs would also exist as they had Pagemaker and the Apple Laserwriter. These were out before the
