I'm a fan of eclipse, but this release reveals an interesting thing about the organization, they aren't very effective at communication. If this had been an intellij release, a bunch of screenshots would have been on their main pa

A big reason nastaliq is not widely available on our screens is because rendering it correctly requires 'context sensitive shape substitution'[1]. Simple substitution of one character for another is not enough. I've spent a c

So why would Oculus acquire Carbon Design, rather than contracting them to design/build their products?

Doesn't look like "Start Developing iOS Apps Today" has an option to switch to Swift.

I, myself, am waiting for the 'getting started'[1] docs to switch to swift before I plunk down $99 for the pre-release software. [1] https://developer.apple.com/library/prerelease/ios/reference...

The documents for ios 8 show all examples in objective-c. Can't wait for them to be updated to swift. I'd love to start with 'getting started' and work my way through rest of the docs. I'm a programmer but could nev

I don't understand all these negative comments. I love the re-design, and I love the general idea of re-designs. In high-school we used to have 'focus correction areas' where our teacher would put up one or two sentences (poo

I'm rooting for MS. My (not so serious) test for windows is simple: the day I can resize dos command prompt as easily as terminal windows on linux/osx is the day Microsoft I need to seriously consider going back to windows :)

Thanks, I actually meant how useful this book will be for professional programmers who want to understand financial math? (btw, I actually bought your book already :) )

Looks very interesting. Is the table of contents final? I didn't see any mention of fixed income. Will this book serve as a good intro for a programmer from the equities world (no specialized math or finance training)?

I didn't know about MicroConf. If you are the kind of person who attends MicroConf, would you know if there are websites like TechCrunch, geared towards 'micro' startups? The kinds of startups which are generating enough reve

I'm a big fan of Chronon[1] for Java. Run a program and record everything about it. Use the same eclipse debug interface as always, but also have the ability to re-wind to an earlier point. Check out the state of any variable in the co

I used to listen to his interviews a year or two ago, during my commute. He is a fantastic interviewer, really digs and asks specifics of how an entrepreneur decided something. Congrats to him!

This is something I have been trying to find the time to do. Something like this is great to learn how the JVM actually works, and can improve the way you code Java. I always found it incredibly boring to read language/vm specs but bui

I'm curious to know what you like about gradle. A few months ago I had a chance to work with gradle and it looked to me like it was a step away from declarative project descriptions, back to writing loops to iterate through files, etc.
