HN does this because they don’t care. It wouldn’t take much to make this site usable, but they refuse to add 5 lines of CSS to make the site work in dark mode.

I think it's standard for juniors to think comments just need to rephrase code. Commits titles are just comments (about changes) // if ID exists in commits if (commits.has(id)) { Big sigh every time I see this, e

As someone with similar history as yours but with WordPress, while I appreciate a well-designed website, I think custom websites are a gigantic waste of human resources. Very few need a custom Magento, WooCommerce, or even just a generic

It’s a great exercise but this is akin to Alpine Linux: it works for some things but you wouldn’t use it as your daily driver

Less technically-savvy people don’t know what you’re talking about. It still looks like a folder in the sidebar.

Clearly it’s not invisible. While you can’t target it by typing ~/Dropbox, people using the Finder won’t notice a difference.

That’s right. No one cares and those who did moved on. I don’t understand how anyone is surprised at this point. There are better tools than Dropbox.

That’s right. I think people forget now Dropbox works. It mentions this in the linked document, it explicitly says you have to recreate the links. But no, downvote the people who know how to read instead.

It’s not 2007 anymore and Dropbox isn’t a plain “rsync GUI” anymore. It’s been obvious for years now that they don’t care about technical users so we should not use it anymore. I probably moved on in 2017.

They’re moving to a modern API. Where the files are stored makes little difference to the user. The only problem I see is that they’re dropping support for files stored on external drives: that should have been the title.

The "I'm behind 7 proxies" meme gained sentience by now. The "real" credit card was stolen in a similar practice from another user. The phone number was entered by my grandma. The address verification was submitted

I don’t get your point. Surely you’ve seen that the iPhone is perfectly able to do 10s handheld exposures. Something in the algorithm can unscramble those eggs because there’s no way it should be able to capture clear pictures with nearly n

To be fair, sensors have the luxury of time that our eyes don’t have. See astrophotography for an example of “could barely see it but the sensor worked it out.”

All hail the bidet. Even the European-style bidet is kind of an inconvenient waste because you're still supposed to use plenty of paper before moving onto it. In Asia you use toilet paper only to dry. The Japanese one is nice but the o

Twitter maybe, but my guess is that you haven’t used Facebook in a while. Its scope is massive and they keep moving stuff around. There’s always something new to break. 50 developers can’t break things fast enough at Facebook’s scale.

Surely there oughta be better fruits to save. As a generic "fruit hunter" I hate all apples and oranges now, it's like there's no other fruit in the world. Go spread the seed of the ice cream bean fruit and tabo fruit
